Appreciate it fellas, feeling a little nervous now about it. Just kinda adgey about the unknown. Any advise on where to go for duty station?
Well I'll add this...
Be glad (kind of) that you are not going in winter. Those hills are cold...real cold.
Stay away from groundhogs, they look cute but they can also be awful mean.
Find long steep hills around your home...preferably around 45* and a mile or better long...then,run up and down those hills until you pass out.....then,put an 80# backpack on and march up and down them at a pace of around 225 steps per minute. If you can do all this without falling over dead,it will be a breeze.
Stay in your perimeter area when on bivouac, its easy to get lost in 100 square miles of woods. We had a guy do guard duty in -8 temps get lost and he suffered severe frostbite before he was found.
Also Lostinthewoods is an engineer base, you will get to hear loud booms, alot.
Also while on the ranges if you hear planes flying above and farting sounds,it ain't your battle buddy,it's just the A-10 warthogs doing target practice.
Also one last point, and serious at that...
If you find any ordinace (explosives,I.E. mortar shells ,etc.) DO NOT TOUCH IT! Get your DI and have him look at it.
When I was there we had two boneheads on FTX right next to us find and start tossing a live mortar round, thinking it was some type of training dummy.Still had the firing pin in it and everything. That stuff is around out there,so be careful.
Nah wait, one more for good measure...when you come running out of the gas chamber, with tears and snot and all that mess running out of your face...hook a hard right,or even left but whatever you do don't go straight. There is a tree that will knock you on your ass if you do.
