Going to Meth from Alcy

meth is alky unless you are talking about denatured. if so i would say yes there would be a little change in tune . when i went from denatured to meth there was a big difference in power and tune. it was pig rich with meth. they say meth is better and more stable and consistant than denatured since meth is a fuel. with denatured when i hit the test button it would flutter a tad but with meth it would almost stall my motor. the boost level went from 23/21 timing and 24psi to 27/24 and 27 psi. hope that helps
methanol is denatured too, and it's alcohol as well.
Denatured just means that its been rendered unfit for drinking.
The stuff sold as "denatured alcohol" is mostly ethanol and most of the time its denatured with methanol since ethanol is what is in alcoholic beverages.
Any alcohol can be used as a fuel.
Long story short, if you are going from ethanol to methanol, expect your AFRs to be leaner. You will have to increase the flow of alcohol or gasoline to compensate.
Methanol has a better latency of heat value (means it will cool your charge more) and has higher specific energy (will make more power when afrs are adjusted to match)

Well ya see some companies have their own names for it.
Example.. VP Fuels calls it "M1", Torco calls it "Methanol", and Sunoco.. here's the trouble.. calls it "Alky". Its all the same. Now I have seen Sunoco call it "Racing Alky" as well.
Now.. nobody calls it "Meth" for fear of confusion with "Crystal Meth".. which is a very bad drug. Some of the internet sites call it a "meth kit".. to be cute

which one is better? I'm running denatured from lowes...21/23 timing 22-23lbs boost....no KR!.....could I run more with meth? or would I want to ? not trying to destroy my car

You could easily run more.
I run 30 psi 26 deg. timing with a single nozzle on a stock long block with 170k miles. I also run a 75 shot of nitrous to spool the turbo.
This does require meticulous tuning with a wide band, egt, and a few other tricks.
Your turbo is one component that can have a very large influence on the amount of boost you run. If you take it out of its efficiency range you will stop making power and start generating heat. Heat is a good way to start detonating if you aren't careful.
