I talked to a buddy who is a cop in Gilbert. He told me to get the police report, it should cost about $5, and that way I will know what the guy on the bike said, and whether or not he has anything "real" on me. Going to try and do it either tommorrow or begining of next week.

Where exactly was this...I'll make sure to stay away from that area...

And make sure you get a decent lawyer, not a flake. The last time I got in trouble, I hired a lawyer that flaked out on a court appearance. Court sent him notice that for failure to appear they were going to suspend my license. Imagine my surprise 4 years later down the road, I got pulled over for expired tags and get charged with 3rd degree AUO. And then, I go to court, and find out from other people that the judge and my ex lawyer were drinking pals. So, needless to say, trying to explain how my lawyer flaked out, even with paperwork documenting everything, I still got bent over.

The judge in my original speeding ticket case was more help in 10 minutes of court time, than my lawyer I paid through the nose for was.

My point is, make sure its not just some new schmo representing you. Make sure hes had some previous clients, oh, and that hes not drinking buddies with the DA or judge in your case!! A judge doesnt care if your lawyer stinks, you hired him, so if he screws up somehow, you are still gonna be in deep water, and a judge wont cut you slack.
I have been through similar situations too. There is a small town that I pass through weekly in rural Va and they have a real "racket" going there. Got a reckless speeding in thier county for going 83 in a 55 but I was maybe going 72-73. I know 20 over is reckless so I used to keep it below that speed. Well I get my "big city lawyer" to take the case and they pretty much blew him off. He asks a baliff about any good lawyers around and he points to the law office next door. I appeal and talk to a guy in the office and he says he can help reduce it if a big fine is suggested to the PA. Low and behold it gets dropped to speeding real quick all with a s*it eating grin on his face like he just got a bonus or something> Research the lawyer well.

I was pulled over this summer out on a country road doing 98 in a 55 by a cop coming at me about 1/2 mile or more away. Talked to the Assistant DA and he said distance of Lidar "Pulsing Lazer Radar" accuracy is about 1 mile:eek: . After some plea barganing, he dropped it to 19 over and it was 4 points which doubled (because of probationary license, i was 17 at he time) to 8 points, it ended up costing me something like $320 for the ticket and then court fees, which came to a total cost of $501. They just car about the money, i traded money for points, so i could keep my license.

Exhibition of speeed, is like wreckless, and racing; An opinion of the arresting officer (Atleast in GA) there is no case to fight because burden of proof is on you, not the officer. It really sucks, because we all do this at one time or another. If you do fight it, the best you reasonably expect is full fines,w/ points and charges reduced.
In GA you would get at minimum the "666". 6 month suspension, $600 fine, and 6 points for racing alone.
Sometimes the best defense is retelling it in a way thats logical to the judge, and the officer. ya know, leave a few details out. (And expect a "fix-it" ticket for the "broken" speedo.)

Just thought I would let you guys know what ended up happening. I went to court plead not guilty and was assigned a public defender. Went to court again, the state asked for a postponement. Went back in the beginning of this month, and they reduced it to "civil speeding", and "squealing tires" which was a civil offense as well. In all I had to pay $550 (instead of $1000+), and got 3 or 4 points instead of 8. So it worked out alright.

I live in Gilbert and I hate this city!!! The gilbert cops pulled me over in my corsica on the way home from work and gave me a ticket for changing lanes without using a turn signal which I was guilty of. Then he added speeding and following too close and I didn't have my current insurance card with me. He made me go down and give fingerprints too, sat there for 2 1/2 hrs. Did you know cops are allowed to estimate your speed and it holds up in court, the judge says so. I fought it by myself cause phillips and associates wanted 3500 bucks to defend me, SCREW them. The cop lied twice in court and I proved him wrong and the judge still fined me 900 freekn dollars and put me on probation for 2 yrs and I still had to go to traffic survival school. I bet on your police report it says you were arrested, cause that is what it said on mine. So next time if I ever have to go give fingerprints again, they are gonna have to haul my ass in themselves. Gilbert  SUCKS
Sorry this was so long. It BURNS my ass everytime I think of it.

I will be making copies for all of the local news outlets, for the district attorneys office And highlights for youtube.
