My son and I just picked up a complete Buick Grand National at a great price. The car is all original, including the rust! Has anyone ever tackled a Regal with this kind of rust and lived to tell the tale? I have attached some pics of the rust.

wow that thing is in bad shape. by the looks of it the roof is no longer structurally sound and to tell you the truth, i would probably pull the motor and look for a roller or make a hybrid out of that one.

That car looks like it spent all of its life in FL. I have parted out many a Regal that looked far better than yours and I can say is that it would be futal to dump that much time and money into it. There is rust hiding in places you cant even see. It will come back and haunt you sooner or later.

Well, I've decided to just patch it up with some patch panels, smooth it out and paint it. I'm not going to spend a lot of time chasing the rust. I'm just going to grind out the obvious stuff, treat it with rust converter on the inside of the roof, and clean it up as best I can and drive it. I'll just keep an eye out for a NA regal or GN shell while I enjoy the car.

Any luck finding the patch panels? I'm searching all over for a pair for my rear quarters. No luck so far.
