Government owned TR's

When i purchased my I received documentation that it was originally owned by the DEA and used in Miami. It was auctioned off after it had 77,000 miles on it. Does anyone else know that their TR was used for police or government work?

No it sure doesnt, just a single turbo v6. Along with the standard 85 mph speedo

CT used them as trooper cars.

I still think mine was a CT trooper car because there is no prior trail before 1994 when it shows as owned by CT. Then it was all over MASS

I once saw a pic of a digital cluster that had FBI written on the backside of it...

FBI cars had braces welded in behind the rear seats as well. No speed cut on the chip and digital dash would not flash 85 if so equipped.

In the late 80's when shopping for car for my son, we saw a beautiful 86 Olds 442, green with gold pen stripes and about 9000 miles on it.
So the salesman is telling how the car was always serviced there and then added that it was even garaged there.
When I asked who would keep a new car at a stealership - He reluctantly stated that it was a Narc car.
When I noticed that the rear tires were very worn and the fronts like new, he replied "Oh those are special tires, they come that way". Guy was good.

We passed, figured the 9000 miles was at WOT. Plus he wanted almost new car price for it.

In 1999 I purchased an '87 "T" from the University of Tennesse at Knoxville. It had been a government experimental test car, one of five, that tested M85 fuel. M85 stood for 85% methanol (methyl alcohol) and 15 % gasoline. There was quite a bit of work done on the car. It had only 33K miles on it. The work was done at the Oak Ridge Labs in Tennessee.

Then three years ago I sold it to a fellow in Georgia who is a member of this board. He went through it and painted it and just generally gave it all the TLC it needed. It turned out beautifully.
