I have seen a couple sites talk about needing a new governor spring because it gets thrown out of the governor.

My question is what are the effects of this failure? What exactly happens to the car to see if this has happens? What is the faliure if the check ball in the governor sticks out of its seat?

I'm a little paranoid about this trans because of my history with it so far. Just wanting to know what to keep my eye out for and how to fix it.

Not shift till 7000 or so. What the symptom would be is a late ,late shift in all gears. to prevent this from happening, pin the gov spring. There are a couple of ways to do this.
If more help or assistance is needed, give the shop a call.
Hope this helps.

Pinning the spring is one way but adds weight to the rotating assembly and lowers shift points. Another way is a very small amount of JB weld or super glue gel on the base of the spring to prevent it from jumping out. I'm going through this right now, I'm waiting for the JB weld to set up and cure before putting the gov back in....BTW, I hit 6375 rpm before I could blink and pull my foot off the gas:eek:

I'm guessing that I need to address this pretty soon since I don't run a tach in the car.

Thanks for the responses.
