I figured some people might like to see how the blackout turned out with the tails, signals and markers. These are painted, professionally smoked lights. I'm having some custom headlight covers made as well. The GTS ones are cheap in my opinion, and I don't like them at all on the car.

black that bumper strip out!!!

Starting with the lights and windows. ;) I will say that I'm LEAVING the 86 grill on the car. I think when the headlight covers are made it will look awesome on the front with the 86 grill as opposed to the 87. Maybe I'll sell that extra 87 I have sitting here.

Looks good. In the photos, the front turn signals appear to have a "billet" look. I like the rear lamps too!. Maybe remove the front brackets for the plate(unless you have front plates in your state),paint the trans cooler lightly with flat black paint, and paint the white trim in the rear bumber pad. That would help blacken the car. Post some of your head lamp covers when you get those on. I agree that the gts ones suck. If there REALLY nice, maybe I get your fabricators name? Good luck with future efforts.

Do something with the tailpipes too!! Think of this...3" mandrel bent cat back with Black chrome tips pokling out behind a 315/40/18

that car is begging for a different set of rims and tires, nice car ;)

Oh absolutely. This is just the START. I'm doing a frame notch and going with some old school Centerline Auto Drags with some MT ET Streets in the rear.

I'm going to put the GN black plate that is now on the back, up front. I think it will look pretty clean that way. Eventually I'd like to have the bumper filled and finished to completely remove the plate recess entirely.

As for the trans cooler, there will be a Precision front mount intercooler on there this time next week. ;) The light covers should be a week or two, but I will certainly post pics. The GTS ones are VERY cheap fitting and looking. As for the guys who do the lights, I may open a little online store to help them sell them.

I like it!!!!

I'm going to do a 3.5 inch single exhaust. Virtual Works is going to make it for me. I may do some type of black tip though. Good call!!

BlackOUT

Vegas your ride looks very good. I actually thought the chrome on the 86 grill with the silver cooler pipes showing thru plus the silver headlight retainer bezels and turn signals bars accent each other and gives the whole front end a unique LOOK.. Would be interesting to see what the 87 Black grille would look like.. Really like the bars on the lower turn signals. How did they do that? BigTS mentioned that they look like billet covers and I have to agree. Did they use pinstripping? Wouldn't mind doing that to our ride. Lookin' Good! Vegas have you decided who is goin to build up your engine yet. You should have one Bad lookin Blackout..

They aren't silver, they are matte black. That's just how much they contrast with the super high polish of the blacked lights and the paint. I like that contrast, as well as the contrast separating the tails down the center. I think they turned out very nice. Just how I envisioned they would look. As for the 87 grill, once the headlight covers are made and installed it will be TOO much black all blended together. The 86 grill is going to keep some character and separation to the front end. The 86 grill will, in my opinion, be by FAR the best choice for a fully blacked out front end in terms of lights. Without that separation and contrast it will lack something.

As for the engine. I have this car, which has already been done internally by Boyd Motorsports, and all the piping, exhaust, intake, etc.....will be done by Dana at Virtual Works here in Las Vegas. If you don't know who he is, his car is the blue Supra in the BFG ads that you see in pretty much every car mag these days. The 87 I have not decided what I want to do with. It's going into storage for the moment, and the third car has a 388 Duttweiler Twin Turbo Bowtie engine in it, so I think I'll be leaving that one alone.

Is that legal in most states?

The laws I've seen usually aren't about the color of the lens, but the distance you can see the lights from. But you generally can't get decent light output through a tinted lens, so yeah it's a good way to get pull over.

Had tinted tails on my car for a year or two and decided 1) it's not worth the tickets and 2) it's not worth having someone rear-end you and ending up being the one at fault when they claim that they couldn't see your tail lights.

As long as the lights you have installed put out the required light, there is nothing illegal about it. You do need to make sure you upgrade the lights though.

Looking good so far. I'm not a fan of the grille but agree that if you do the blackouts on the lights it will be too much black.

I know everyone hates the 86 grill, but I think when you guys see the car done, you will agree that it looks better than the 87 would. I like to think I generally have a good eye for tasteful mods, and I'm committed to the 86 grill on this one.

Im for the 86 grill!! The horizontal chrome looks badass on an all black car. Put some HRE, Kinesis, or Simmons wheels on it with a 2" drop...Man im getting pumped just thinking about it. Enough typing, im going to the garage to work on Evil for the Nats!

looks really nice I wanna do the same the tail light covers look cheap and really don't look good how about some pics at night ,I think you need those new led bulbs they are brighter I think. BTW if you're ever in Vacation in Miami you can past by and baptise my Buick it really needs a Godfather ! ;)
