ANY INFORMATION OR STORIES ABOUT THE GT3255E?
I AM LOOKING FOR EITHER A TA49 OR TE44 BUT THIS NEW GT3255 TURBO HAS BEEN POPPING UP HERE AND THERE
I HAD BOTH THE TA49 AND TE44 ON OTHER GN'S I HAVE HAD AND LIKED BOTH
I HEARD THAT THIS GT TURBO HAS HIGH FAILURE RATE
ANY INFO WOULD BE GREAT AND INJECTOR SIZE I AM LOOKING AT THE 42 1/2 OR THE 50'S
I HAVE A 2800 STALL CONV. WITH A FULLY BUILT TRANS FROM TRANNY TECH, TERRY H. DP,RJC POWER PLATE,ADJ FUEL REG., WALBRO 344,STOCK INTERCOOLER WITH BIGGER NECK,5 CORE RADIATOR,CHIP

From what i have read, they spool quicker but run flat at top end. Have not read about any failures.

I upgraded from the stock turbo to the GT3255e. Big difference. Never had a 44 or 49 so I can't compare. The 3255 spools faster that the stocker did and I can build 13# on the foot brake with the stock converter and it builds it in about 4 seconds. Ran a 12.5 at 5500ft with very little tuning so it should be a solid 11 second turbo as the 44 and 49 are. Very happy with it.

Any calculators out there to figure that for 90ft above sealevel for comaparo?

I dont know where the high failure stuff comes from.Ive never heard of that. I had a GT32 and its a very nice turbo. It spools like mad and makes very nice power. It hasnt been proven yet at the track from what I see, but its a matter of time when it does run good. Should be good for high 11s..

Of course the TA 49 is a great turbo too.

Gt3255e

I THINK IT WAS LIMIT ENG. THAT HAD SAID THEY HAD HIGH FAILURE RATE WHICH IS WHY THEY DONT SELL THIS TURBO
I AM LEANING TOWARD A tA49
I THINK IT SPOOLED UP QUICKER THAN THE TE44 ,BUT THAT WAS ON MY OTHER GN WITH A STOCK CONVERTER
A FRIEND OF MINE JUST PICKED UP THIS GT3255E AND HE HAS NOT YET INSTALLED IT TO SEE, I AM VERY CURIOUS TO SEE WHAT IT DOES
I DONT WANT TO SPEND THE MONEY ON THIS NEW TURBO AND NOT LIKE IT

I THINK THIS GT3255E TURBO IS TOO NEW AND NOT ENOUGH INFO ABOUT IT

Too new? Well when the turbo buicks went to SFI in 84 that was new. Everybody else was still running carbs. When turbo buicks went to MAF that was new too, most everybody else running FI was running speed density. The whole premise of the cars we love is that they were ahead of their time and doing things that nobody else was. If the buick engineers were happy with "what ever already works" we would all be modding our 305 HO carb'ed chevys! New technolgy is not the enemy. If we all resist products that companies invest in R @ D then we will not have any new products. Keep an open mind.

Found a calculator, those time work out to be about 11.7@114 or there abouts. Pretty much equal to what people are runnng with a 49/44.
