Just picked up some GTA wheels today, all fronts and of course 16". Did a search and googled around some and still need some help. Curently, the (bald) tires on the rims are 255/50/16 BF Drags...Anyone know how big of a tire I can run on the back w/ these wheels? They look really small and was hoping to stuff something bigger (in height) under the car. Thanks

kirban 2 cents worth

Several factors figure into tire size front and rear in the 16 inch.

The good thing is you got four front GTA rims.

Not sure what year Turbo Regal you got but any year but 1987 sat lower in the front.

So if you have a 1984-85-86 you need to upgrade your front springs.

All years you need to have replaced your rear springs as factory springs are not the greatest....if in doubt put two of your large buddies in the back seat and see how the car squats down.

The key feature on rear tire fit is how straight your car is on the frame....not many were even when new now add 20 plus years to the mix and unless you have replaced every body mount and had a body shop do it on a frame rack I betcha your car is not on the frame straight.

The clearance problem arises on the tire and the outer frame rail and or the lip area of the quarter panel.

My opinion...stick with the GNX rear tire size 255/50s and 245/50s up front...

Also complicating things to a lesser degree is not every tire in the same size is exactly the same width....

I run 245/50s all around.....

Granted today 18s are more common but unless you wanna outlay more money and take chances that is the way to go.

245/50/16 & 255/50/16 here BFGs all around, putting DRs on the back soon still M/T 255/50/16

OK, that's what the rims have on them now tire size...The 255's out back and 245'sin front. And Yes, I have an 87' and yes...the springs are tired :) And Dennis Kirban, I live about 30 minutes from you and need many things from you so I must get in contact with you regarding just picking up the order at your shop versus wasting $ on shipping...like today, I need the black lug caps and lugs :) and already found 'em on your site :D When goooogling, these were the only sizes that came up so I guess that's the final answer on tire size...gotta ask though!

gta wheels

I really like those tires if they don't rub...and yes no DUBS for me :D

The 295's are the limit on 16x10's and are close to the frame. Like Dennis said if your car has solid springs/suspension is the key. I think the 275/55/16 would be the way to go on a 16x8 wheel.

The 295's are the limit

Ohhh, When I bought the car the guy had 295's on it and when I would hit a good bump they would rub so..I'm aware of that size. I'm going to do Bilsteins all the way around w/ new springs and GNX body mounts so I think the tire u suggested will work..I gotta try, they will look great.
