Guy here local just kills his car ..overboosting, bouncing off the rev limiter, running it with no H20 in the engine for miles, etc, etc.

He was at the track recently and told one of the fellow guys in our turbo regal group here that he took car of the knock problem he was having.

Guy ask him how, He replied, "I just pulled the knock sensor off the engine."

Thought I would share this "new" method of KR removal....LOL

I had a guy say that to me one time a few years back. Direct quote, "man this thing sure runs good w/ the knock sensor unplugged!" I simply walked away, LOL

stage motors don't run knock sensor don't even have threads in the back on the block ,as for the stage motor i've seen

I don't think any TSM engines have knock sensors either...:)

Gotta love those guys, I'll bet as soon ae he blows it up it's he'll be screaming that it's the bad gaskets/engine builder/track operator/guy at the pars stores fault. :D

So you simply drill and tap the block and put one in. Done it before.

Bet his idea of clearing the "check engine light" is to remove the bulb.....

haha i did this on my old trans am. it was tuned safely and was not knocking but would pick up lots of false knock from the valvetrain and headers, getting rid of the sensor prevented it from pulling timing unnecesarily, i ran good gas all the time though

duh, I know that but the race motor wasnt running one , and they rely on PROPER TUNING ! no need to worry about detonation ETC......

Duh. More like proper octane and cam selection. No amount of tuning will help if the octane is too low;)

OK MR COMP/ISKY/VP/SUNOCO yeah you need fuel and cam and alot of money but if you what your doing you can get the job done ! I know if I seen a race motor not running a knock sensor it was not the first one around to do that !

Bison,
I am in the process of putting a Procharger on my 455. Was thinking about adding a knock sensor. There is no way in he!! that someone my age is going to hear knock over a whinning supercharged big block Buick running through 3 inch exhaust. Do you think that is possible and could it be wired into a simple device for readout (no computer, use a controlled leak to put fuel and air into motor :D )

I laughed my ash off at Jack Evers for doing this very same thing and then I had to do it myself when I had a false knock problem I couldn't find. Jack nor I blew up our engines because of this. It is certainly a sure fire way to stop the ecm from pulling timing......for better or for worse.

And everyone I have heard say "my car has ZERO knock issues" makes me wonder if their KR sensor is plugged in, or if the sensor even works. :)

There is a simple way to do it with a knock gauge like the one caspers sells. Id call them and order the gauge and length of wire with the proper connecgtor on one end.
