So I'm having a problem with some heads I bought at the end of 2009. (yes, I know it's a long time ago, but hear me out) so I placed an ad looking for a pair of stage 2 heads. A member responded with a good sounding pair. I was told that they were recently redone, and that the chambers were around 40cc. I asked for pics, which came in my email, but really small. They looked good tho, and since they were from a prominent buick community member, I bought them and put them on the shelf until I had the funds to get started on my stage 2 build. Last fall I sent them to a VERY reputable builder. He told me that the guides were damaged, the seats needed redone or replaced, and that the chambers were less than 30cc due to excessive milling. I was given the impression that they would be bolt on and go, but it turns out that they'll need well over $2000 of work just to get them usable! I know it's my bad for having them in the shelf for so long, but I figured since they're from a well respected member of the community, I wouldn't have to get them checked out right away. Now after explaining the situation to him, and asking for a refund of $1000, (I paid $1200) or a set of usable heads in a very polite and respectful way, he tells me that's an insult, and that I must think he's either stupid or scared. I suppose there's nothing I can do, because I waited so long to get them checked out, but saving to build a stage 2 doesn't happen over night. Live and learn I guess, an expensive mistake I'll never repeat.
