Make sure you invest in a good set of ARP head bolts if you do. You'll have to finish tapping the threads in the block it is's an 84. I've had good luck with the stock steel shim HG and the non-TTY factory bolts on my HAs. Good to 20 pounds when I keep the knock under control.Unfortunetly they are discontinued. It will be FelPro 1000's the next time around I guess.

Felpro 1000 on mine now, all ARP bolts
Take the time to have the heads checked, 2 of my seals and guides had moved so the heads were completely redone
That's where all the blue smoke was coming from, thought it was a turbo seal

stock steel shims if you can get them. there around trust me. im putting a set in my car with some arp bolts.

One thing to consider when it comes to head gaskets that I hadn't considered when I chose mine was the engine safety aspect.

There are better than stock and Felpro 1000's such as Cometic or RJC blowproof and a few more. I was dead set on Cometics told my builder that is what I was going to use from day one because they are soo hard to blow arguably the best out there. My builder recommended going with the Felpro 1000s for my combination, because if you go with another hard-core heavy duty head gasket you are taking away a safety mechanism for the engine. It is much easier to replace a head gasket than a windowed block.
