Next project, and long overdue .....any advice or tricks would be appreciated.

I would keep your old one and recover it. For dog's sake, don't toss it.


I've done two of my cars in the past just by going to Wal*Mart for cloth and some 3M spray glue. It's actually a pretty easy job once the headliner is on the back porch.

Turned out great
Took a couple hours to install with being constantly interrupted

But couldn’t be hapier
 
I've only ever done hard top headliners, and those are easy to get out... t-top headlines must be a breeze to get out. just have new plastic clips for all the trim moldings, they will almost all break.
I have an upholstery guy who re-covers them for me for cheap. I use a small bit driver and I can get the rear upper sail panels out with taking the back seat out.
