Got a head gasket although I haven't figured out why unless the head lifted as I had no knock on DS. But that's another story. The heads are coming off and I was wondering If I should have any other work on the engine while it's apart. I'm gonna have the heads pressure checked and surfaced. Engine is stock, but has been apart (has ARP head bolts).

My car has been in the 7.20's 1/8 mile so far with the mods in my sig. Would I see much benefit from porting the heads while they're off? Also, the intake would need to be matched for proper flow, correct? Should I change cams or leave the stocker in it?

Planning on keeping my supporting mods.

SO give me some advice. My goals would be hoping for a 6.90 pass :) if I do the heads and stuff.

TIA

I would definitely have the heads ported while they are off, it will make going faster much easier as it will allow more boost to get in the clinders without having to push the turbo so far....you know just because there is 20# of boost in the intake plenum doesn't mean there is 20# of boost in the cylinder due to flow restrictions in the runners....thats one reason some cars are very fast with lower boost than those with stock unported heads and a ton of boost.
Intake port matching is optional, but every little bit helps.

Cam and timing chain too. Depends what your looking for out of it.

You'd be crazy not to have the heads at least cleaned up if they are coming off anyways. Better yet go for a full blown port job and bigger valves etc.
