I'm looking to pull to about 6500RPM.
Is a 215/220 516"/529" 112LS roller cam spec a decent match?
The bottom end is set up for it with a nicely balanced 3.4 stroke forged rotating assembly.

what kind of heads are they and what turbo/converter will you be using?

Hi Mike thanks for replying...

The heads are the newer style GN1's with blended bowls and a gasket match to the Champion racing intake. Converter is a PTC 9.5". Will try the converter as-is and swap it out for adjustment if needed. Turbo is a PT6776RH with a .63 turbine housing. Will probably upgrade the turbo to a billet 67 R version after a short while. T/A headers.

E85 and Methanol for fuel...

The turbo / converter combo spools extremely well with the "old" motor which is currently in the car. Basic 210/210 roller, ported iron motor.

I guess, I'm generally just expecting the new motor to pull harder and higher with less boost than the old motor did. And I may or may not need to adjust the torque converter just a little.

The converter in the video pulls down about 800-900 RPM on the shifts with the old motor, and has 7% slip through the traps.

the 215/220 is a good choice for that combo and the rpm range your after, it will work even better when you upgrade the turbo to something with a bigger turbine wheel
Mike

From what I see, all you need is to up your turbo from .63 to .85 I run the same turbo, and have a 210/215 cam. Your housing is to small, especially for E85. It will run out to fast, even with stock 3.42 gears, and 28" tall tires.

If your pulling to 6500 with stock gearing and 28" tires your running 150+mph. Id figure out what rpm you need to achieve your quarter mph at around 5-7% slip and then choose your cam based off that. If you decide stay hyd. id pull some gear out. Plan on a lot of steam to get the car to pull that high in 3rd. Imo you will need a bigger turbine to really maximize the potential in that combo.

thanks for the replies guys

The current motor with the 210/210 will shift a 6000, and go through the traps at 5700 @ 128. I guess I should technically say that it pulls to 5700 instead of saying it pulls to 6000....

I'm looking to get past 6000 RPM through the traps and into the mid 130's. We'll see how she does with the existing P trim. If it really gets in the way then I'll swap it out to a Q with a billet compressor and maybe loosen the converter a bit if I have too.

6000 will need to get you high 130's. Id just keep the 210 and keep turning the boost up. Id avoid loosening th econverter unless you are going to run a solid cam.

I kinda like the converter just a bit on loose side though.... it's great fun. The one I have now is at least 200RPM too loose for the existing combo but it's kinda hard to argue with 25psi on the foot brake.

10% is the limit though. Gotta stay under that.

Brian,
If I remember correctly you were / are running 134-135mph with a 212/212?
How much boost on the line and what kind of RPM and slip?

thanks

3 psi launch, 1.59 60', 28.5psi, 5750rpm in 3rd last frame of WOT, 3%

a 1.59 with 3psi. What was the rpm at 0-1 psi?
3200. Keep in mind hte car had the power to run high 1.30's if the suspension and traction was there.
