Not too long ago somebody came up to me and asked me what kind of car that is. Without pointing to the fender like a smart-a$$, I replied 'a Grand National'. He tries not to look puzzled for a moment and then asks me what kind of engine it has. I tell him. Then the moron laughs and says "Too bad....my brother's got the Grand National that came with a V8.", and walks away chuckling.
Did I kill him?
No.
I also had somebody try to tell me once that the GN was designed by the FBI and given to Buick to build, and by some strange mistake....we all got to buy them as well as the FBI. (I'm familiar with the FBI buying some, this is different.) I'm wondering if anyone else has heard any good horses**t stories related to the GNs.....and I'm not talking your friend who lies about his E.T.s.

Took my 87 GN to have its yearly inspection today and I was asked by the Tech if it was the "supercharged version of the GN"?? I calmly said no this was just the turbo model. The tech went on to explain about someone he knew that that I guess the better supercharged version.....oh well.:D

I had a guy a work argue with me that all GNX's where twin turbo, we all have heard that one right?, well he then tells me that all the TTA,s where silver

Ah yes, it is disappointing to me how little we know about our own cars. There's only one thing for me to do, and that is go buy a twin turbo, V8 GNX with the rocket boosters and bulletproof windows that came stock........even though it still couldn't outrun a car with a 350, (like the Regals should've had) :D

Hey! I've worked with that guy, too!

well i just heard this one today,
work friend: ya your lucky!!! those turbo cars are soo easy to adjust the boost!!
ya just change those wheel things inside to bigger ones and your boost goes up..
i can do it for ya if ya want,,,

me. well thanks but no my 45a makes enough boost already.

work guy: oh you have one of those??

me: ya why?

work: those have hard to find wheels i dont think you can up the boost with em, you should go back to the stocker!!!

me: ya ok thanks BYE!!!

some people huh???

I have had Buicks for years (starting with a 65 GS). But when I got into the Turbo's and picked up my GN, I actually had someone get in the car, look at the headrests and ask if I worked at Jiffy Lube because he never saw Jiffy Lube logo's on the headrests of any car before....

Everytime I see a Jiffy Lube logo, I laugh...and think of that idiot.

Whenever someone comments on the Jiffy Lube logos on my car, I tell them that Jiffy Lube gave me the car if I would put their logos on it. And no, Jiffy Lube no longer does this. They haven't given cars away since 87. Quiets them up and they walk away muttering something about free cars.

I had a guy ask me what year my car was. I said an 86. He said it couldn't be because it has an 87 grill. I explained to him that I switched the grill many years ago because I liked the look better. He went on to tell me that the 87 grill was exclusive to the 87 car and that it would not fit any other years.

There is a reason that it's against the law to kill stupid people.
