I just had my turbo shield powdercoated. Rather than cranking the mounting bolts into the freshly coated surface I would like to put a plastic type washer behind them that is thin yet heat resistant. Anyone know what readily available washers would do the trick? Nylon? I thought about making some from an old milk jug like I used on fender bolts during a restoration but I bet they would melt rather easily.

Nylon or any polyethylene / polypropylene will melt like butter John.
The only material that comes to mind that may work is a phenolic. Are phenolic washers even available?
Not 100% sure that it will take the high temperatures, but it may do the job.

How about some high temperature gasket material that you could stamp out the washers from?

Try Teflon washers, good to 500*
