Here's a stupid question about my heated garage......

I've been working on this flood-totaled Caddy since November. I've had the heat on the whole time (those Reddy-Heaters are pretty efficient - I was expecting a huge jump in the gas bill, but it's not bad....but I digress). The Caddy's finally done except for a couple of little things. I've been able to clear out all the Caddy-related debris and put my van back in the garage in the other bay. Since I do have some more work to do, I want to leave the heat on in there. Once cold, it takes a while for all the cold metal things in the garage to get warm. I keep it around 65 degrees. Now today it's 18 degrees outside......

Here's the stupid question: is there any harm in the radical temperature changes the van will face going from 65 to 18 degrees and back a couple of times a day? I'm picturing what happens when you put cold water in a hot coffee pot. The temp difference isn't that radical, but a 50 degree temp difference is a decent amount.

I really do have better things to do, but for some reason this occured to me while I was sleeping. During the non-racing months I don't have much to occupy my mind.

The only negative I have ever heard is that once your vehicle drives through a bunch of road salt it is better from a rust standpoint to leave it outside where everything stays frozen rather than have it melt every night.

Although it sounds logical, I have no idea if that theory has any actual merit. I just read it once.

It won't hurt it, the van isn't going to absorb temperature that fast. Think of all the people who have heated garages......

Yeah, I thought about that. And the service bays are always heated. It's funny when you drive in from the cold everything immediately gets condensation on it - windows, paint - anything metal or with metal underneath it. It dissipates quickly, though.

Guess I should worry about bigger things like how to get this stupid Caddy running again......
