Heater core?

My vents blast steam sometimes, only SOMETIMES, when the engine is warm or at moderate RPM. I've had heater cores go out before, and it was always steaming. What gives?

Sounds like a heater core to me. Quick band aid is GM coolant tabs.

Glen at NOS or Brian at Gbody should have the 'right' one. There are a lot of wrong ones going around.

not all the time. usually its just steam, but sometimes it has that burnt syrup smell. I think its just not very concentrated anymore. when i did my last coolant change, i kinda winged the 50/50 mix from the seat of my pants.

I did the coolant tab thing... Worked! No more steam. Just gotta blow putt the syrup smell now
