Scheduled for a rebuild tomorrow. Should I go with Alto red for the band and koleen steels for the 2-3 clutch? The rebuilder suggest kevlar for the band, he says alto red will be too firm a shift. All response appreciated.

alto red wide band and red 3rd cluthches with kolenes .the only smart choice.

I agree... mostly.

I would not use the Kolenes but all else is good. Not to demean or start controversy between Chris and I but I am not fond of Kolenes.
The alto reds are good and the band...sheesh, I would use nothing else but an Alto Red band (NO KEVLAR ANYTHING) and a 300m anchor pin for the band. To get it right on the money consider buying an adjustable servo pin also. Then you can set it perfect!.
as for the clutch pack, beware of too loose.

thanks guys, I guess I'll toss a coin for the final decision and post my results.

YEAH ,the reds and kolenes shift better.lol ahahahahahahahahahahahaaaahhhaaaaaa.as long as you dont fry the thirds every pass down the track i guess your ok either way.be sure to dual feed, and open the 3rd accumulator hole in the seperator plate to speed band knockoff and hi clutch pack accumulation ehich reduces the slip time between the held and the driven.
