I have a stage 2 CK tranny i just picked up that has about 1000 miles on it. It blew a few governors and the last time the guy got fed up and went with a 400. He said it was working fine when he pulled the motor and then it wouldnt shift when he put it back in. Were thinking since nothing else was changed, he must have forgotten to hook up the TV cable on the tranny side or the TV cable was way out of adjustment. I pulled the the VB and the TV exhaust ball is missing (common on rebuilds i know). Im wondering now if the TV cable wasnt hooked up would it even make a difference being the ball was left out? Another thing is the 1-2 accumulator piston was also left out and what looks like a checkball is set into a port around the base of the 1-2 accumulator housing blocking the flow to the piston that would normally be in there which indicates its a new style built after march 14 1987. But, is the piston also supposed to be out on these models? Also the 4th accumulator check ball is left out and right next to where that should be is another ball set into the case.

Im sure this is all part of the CK build but just want to make sure. Lastly, im putting a stage right trans brake in. Is there anything i should do or un-do from this Stage 2 build to ensure proper operation? Thanks alot. Calls are welcom. 516-356-6238 Thanks alot.

that is how the acc housing was set up on that build.if your using the stagerite i suggest using our new seperator plate,

The directions tell me to drill a hole with the provided drill bit. Is that the only modification in the new plate? Let me know, i like doing things the right way. What kind of prices are we talking for the new plate? Thanks. Tyler. P.S i have a track rental the 27th of may and dont have much time to be going too crazy.

So is that 1-2 acc piston supposed to be out or what?
It cant function once the oil feed has been blocked thats why it was omitted. This is common with loose non locking converters. I do it on almost every non lock trans i build. If you use another housing that has the accumulator feed intact you will need to re-install a piston and spring.

That makes sense. Thanks alot. Im pretty sure my converter doesnt lock at all but if anything it locks in OD. Would that cause a problem with the acc housing passage being blocked? Thanks.

That wouldnt cause the problem you stated. The accumualtor is a dead end in the circuit anyway. Your converter needs to be locking at light loads cruising or the cooler circuit is only running about 10%. This is bad if you are doing a lot of long highway cruises. The planetaries will overheat and fail eventually. You need to figure out why the converter is not locking. Do a search on TCC problems. The diagnostics have been mentioned many times on here.

I think it does lock in OD but deffinitely not in other gears. Its an AC 9" 3400 stall. I dont think its supposed to lock. I'll find out today when i get the tranny in, if it shifts.
