Hi Guys,

Husband at track now with a new PAC from alkycontrol and he is having problems with early spray on ( hope that is the term , I don't know, ask me about shoes and I know...) anyhow, I called the 800 # , but no response...any suggestions, or does anyone even know what I am talking about? ( Sorry, I drive a Jeep Wrangler....)

Read this thread, http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/alcohol-nitrous-propane-tech/147348-tuning-alkycontrol-kit.html
Hope this helps, read it to him over the phone. I think in the instructions there is a wire that he could have hooked up to the brake petal switch to aid in the blast off at the line. The other thing that comes to mind is the initial adjustment in the black box may need to be turned C.W. ever so slightly to delay the spray to a higher boost. All the guys that know about this system are probably at the track right now themselves....

he only leaves with around 2 lbs of boost and he doesnt want spray on until 10 or 15....any ideas...which knob to turn for later spray????

raof....I just clicked on alky link, if I figure out what's wrong from reading that, I say he has to give me his car....

Hold him to it!

The turn-on point as set from the factory is about 4psi. Th change the turn on point, you've got to go into the controller and adjust it. Be advised, the system is pretty bulletproof right out of the box, and monkeying with it can lead to all kinds of bad things......

:D

Thanks guys. It was quite a day for sure.

Put some JB weld on my cracked header. It worked pretty good actually.

Since my VSS is busted, I hooked up the speedo and VSS buffer from my 85 442; and it WORKS!!! lol... :D

Got the new alchy kit installed. However, when I was installing it I must have did something to the dash lights becuase I keep blowing the dash light fuse, which is nice.

So, first time at the track in about 10,000 years. We got there really late, around 9pm. First run car bogs BIG TIME. It was my first run with the power logger software and I didn't get the run saved so I had to run again.

Second run had my 02's sky high. This is when I called Heidi to see if she could see in the manual where it says to adjust the initial spray on point. I couldn't find anything out so I started turning the turn-on knob more and more CW until the bogging started to go away. I got it pretty close but it was getting late and I couldn't get any clean runs in. I probably need to turn the knob a little bit more CW and I will be done.

BTW, the third run of the night I accidentally left the alky kit turned "OFF". 20lbs of boost and no boom on 93 octane.

Sounds like a night of adventure, lucky your not taking the heads off tonight... fixing a gasket. Just curious did you get knock with the alky off. I know talking to Eric @ turbo tweak that he depends on that alky on his alky chips, with out it you will go way lean up top.... glad all is good though!

Unfortunately, I only got three of my six runs recorded, and that wasn't one of them.:( The last of the orange lights were lit on my caspers knock gauge, but I don't "remember" seeing any red lights. I didn't "feel" any bad knock. I felt bad knock once before, and I don't want to feel that again.

I just looked at my last run. 22.5lbs of boost and 0 knock the entire run. O2's started off at the low 900's and slowly decreased to the low 800's at the end of the 1/8th.

Whose chip is in the car.

TurboTweak for alchy.

I have no idea why the car didn't blow up on that one run where I had the alky kit off. What is that saying about how God looks out for stooopid people? :D

Life is crazy with four kids and I just forgot to bring the alkycontrol manuals with me to the track is all. I figured it was the "turn on" dial. I almost had it dialed-in but it was late and I had to get my son home. Plus, I was hot-lapping. :D I also forgot my multimeter, so I couldn't dial in the "turn on" that way either.

Do you have the manauls in PDF format that we can download from your website? That would be great if we could download them from the internet and save them on the laptop.

BTW, I heard Heidi called "the 800 #" for alky tech support. Don't you have any tech support set up in India?

I tested some last night. Little red "turn on" light wasn't consistently coming on under boost pressure. It comes on fine when I push the "test" button.

Turned out that the 22ga green 3bar MAP voltage wire that goes in to the PAC controller was broken off at the butt connector. I must have crimped it to hard and it just broke in half.

I tested on the way to work today and I have the same problem, so maybe the other end is loose or broken (I tapped in to the wire behind the glove box, it shares the wire with my powerlogger).

I hope to check it out tonight...

Dont use Butt connectors on the MAP wire. Only solder. This way there is no second guess.

You can use butt connectors on the LED's if you wish.. since they can not affect whether the system sprays or not.

Also.. if your going to crimp, only use a ratcheting type or a Klein. Do not use the cheapo Chinese type.. Be happy you didnt hurt the engine over a bad connection that was avoidable.

Zip tie all your boost lines.. especially to the MAP and FPR. Your system is only as good as its connections..

Lastly.. you need to see why its rich and the controls inside my PAC are plug-n-play. Meaning you should not have to mess with them. If its rich.. you have something else wrong.. whether its a MAF issue.. or fuel pressure thats too high.

Yes sir...:D

ZOINKS!

Before I hooked up my alky kit, I hooked up the Power Logger software with the boost reference from the OEM MAP sensor. The PL site says to get the MAP reference voltage from the "BLUE" C13 wire coming out of the ECM.

HOWEVER, I noticed that my VDO boost gauge was reading differently than the PL software and the turn on voltage reference at the PAC controller.

It turns out that the "BLUE" C13 wire is the TPS signal coming from the TPS to the ECM. NOT the 5V output to the TPS. The 5V output from the ECM to the TPS is the "GRAY" C14 wire. I am now powering the OEM MAP with the correct 5v signal from the ECM. The PL software and the PAC controller are now both seeing the correct MAP voltage. PAC controller turn on set to @ 2.2 volts.

During this little adventure I also realized that my MAP sensor had no ground.

I have a custom dash and my OEM boost gauge is removed. This meant I had to run a new ground for the MAP sensor.

All fixed now and I can't wait to get back to the track and lay the smack down...

Glad you made a little time to sort the car out. Try and get to the track early.. and take small steps..

I too hurry hurry hurry.. then realize I missed something...

With four boys five years apart, I often tweak and tune while I am driving. On the way to the Marlins game last night. On the way to school this morning. On the way to work this morning.

I am getting pretty good at driving with my Knee while I hold the probes for the multimeter with one hand and work the laptop with the other hand...
