Help!! Installed (2) new switches, filter/fluid, Still a Problem

I'm stupid. What's the VSS, I'd like to check mine.

Vehicle Speed Sensor

Hook up a scan tool and go for a drive. the speed readings should equal the spedometer readings to w/in a mile or 2 on an analog dash. My readings were all over the place, causing the TCC to get signals to lock and unlock. Took a month to track down and having to drop the tranny pan twice, but at least its done.

totally amazeing.....

these cars are so incredible.
nuc you really persevered. that is what it takes sometimes.
to keep comeing back to the problem to figure it out.
bet it feels real good during that 2-3 shift now......

Where is the VSS located?

The VSS has an optical sensor that is screwed into the back of the speedo right next to the speedo cable. Trace the wires from the sensor to a thin rectangular greenish/bluish box. To get to mine I had to take the A/C control head out of the dash. I couldn't see it until I took the control head out. Disconnect the box, connect the new one, run the wires, screw the sensor to the back of the speedo., reconnect the speedo cable and you are ready to go. It made it a little bit easier to do by dropping the steering column.

I shudder to think what this whole ordeal would have run me $ wise, if I had taken it somewhere and they had had to do this trouble shooting.

are you talking about the little green box (the buffer module)?

I'm looking for the sendor that connects to each side of the speedocable.

The pat number is on the board somwhere, do a search.

Yeah, I am talkimg about the buffer, although it has an optical sender that is attached to it via 3 wires and this sender is screwed into the back of the speedo just to the drivers side of the speedo cable on an analog dash.
