Haha...... Maybe so, but how long is that gonna last ya. And for what, so you can go out drinkin in a corn field somewhere with you buddies and get wasted.....cause I dont see a whole lotta fun in that.
You can buy a brand new LS motor right out of the create for $7-8K, (maybe cheaper) put in a 4L80E for about $3K, make a few modification to the motor, bolt on a 76mm turbo and run low 9s.... And you'd still be able to drive it to the beach every year with the old lady and the booger eatin brats..... Oh, and not have to worrying about the old lady killin ya if it doesn't start..... or worse, making it there and back......
Good, fast, and cheap. Pick two.
Look, it's nothing personal! I'm happy there's people out there that like nostalgia. But, when I think of nostalgia, I think of old/unreliable. Something that belongs behind a roped off area in a local volunteer fire co. house......
I've experienced first hand how expensive these v6 parts are and how long you have to wait for them, as I'm sure many of you have. And don't think just because people aren't sayin it, they aint thinkin it ", I should have done an LS motor! Because they are.....
Just had this discussion today with Dale Cherry from Injection Connection. He did a complete LSX motor with a SC that's making 1300 hp for about $22K. A complete motor. I don't know what it's going into and I don't care. That's pretty serious power for a pretty good price. And just like he said, this guy could drive it to work every day like it were VW, then blast it down the track every weekend for manya years to come. When it comes to nostalgia, no thank you. Wouldn't take the Apollo 13 to the moon.
you have to get the car up to snuff to handle the power.you turn the boost up with a chip and good octane and the trans will get hurt.address the trans, then fuel system, and a small turbo and run boost in the 25 psi range and you will have a fun 11 sec combo with a good tire. So, got a 1987 that needs some TLC. Looking for advice on building something reliable and fast, sadly sacrificing speed.for reliability. Already got a race car that isn't streetable, and always needs something fixed.
Trying to get this Buick as fast as I can, as long as it doesn't need parts every week..
Any suggestions on parts as this progresses would be appreciated, so I'm not burning money foolishly.
would you like a real answer to that question?it might surprise you.understand i see/race all this stuff run and guess what none of it is lasts forever.Maybe so, but how long is that gonna last ya.
a bbc with a small shot can be done for around the same brand new and a few of my friends have done it cheaper.also a friend of mine has a small block that made around 1600 for less than 22-25k.im not biased to any setup as i have seen all of them make power and go through there lifespan.the reality is your going to spend if you want 1000+hp.He did a complete LSX motor with a SC that's making 1300 hp for about $22K. A complete motor.
they def can they become a pia at that level though more specifically the flangesThere are several here that claim they have gone into the 9's with them with time slips to prove it.

At the Bates show, I bought an EGR block-off plate that reads " FUCK YOUR LSX".....
I hope it sparks a conversation or two............ or maybe even a race.
no sir.stock will be fineYa'll think he's got a 9 hiding somewhere in his new street build?
