So i washed and waxed my car for the local car show on Friday, and had some chrome rim cleaner in my garage. i decided to use it on my GNX-copy rims, because they had a lot of brake dust and stuff on them, and were just overall very dirty. Well, apparrently (sp?) you can ONLY use that stuff on chrome rims, because it left white marks on the lip of my rim wherever the "chemical" was sprayed. It seems like the stuff was acidic and just ate away the finish on my rims and turned it white. Is there any hope for saving these?! Someone mentioned trying that Mother's Powerball thing, but if there is anything better PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Go find the closest TA, Love's, or Flying J. There are people there that can polish dirt. I have polished aluminum wheels on my tractor and thet were in bad shape. Some dude carrying a tool box and a butt-load of rags was walking through the lot. I stopped him and he charged me $25 to do the tractor. The wheels look brand new and that was a year ago.

Most of those travel stops have a chrome shop, and will polish all metal.

My $.02

hay hurricane, maybe on friday at towers i'll bring the powerball with me and we'll give it a try, as a matter of fact i will be at the muvico theater on 15601 sheridan street we should be there around 6pm (to see fast and F-4 )
i can bring it so we could try it out. i was the one at tower shops who told you about it.

I did the same thing years ago. Wasnt paying attention and put mag cleaner on my old GTA's. Took me HOURS to polish them out by hand!

if they are clearcoated you are screwed. you will have to strip them and repolish, real pia. usually if they turn white thats the case

yeah that'd be real cool man. and what time are u going to Towers? If ur gonna be a Muvico at 6pm, wouldnt it conflict? I heard the plan was to meet at towers around that time, then go meet at Muvico at 9:30 ...some people on this board and the other (turbobuicks.com) were talkin about it

crazqban and myself are going to the movico today to see F-F4 cause we have advanced screening tickets that we won at the krusin krome car show.
i will bring it with me toinght just in case you roll by, i'll be wearing my turbo six-hoodie and be in my lincoln navigator.:) i'll om you my number just in case.

Yep, sounds like the clear is letting go. NEVER spray anything on a clear coated rim unless it states safe for all wheels! That sucks man.:(

well, i started using the Never Dull, and i guess its been working? Its kinda hard to tell - i didnt take "before" and "after" pics but it does seem like it was working. I'm trying to figure out a way to make a Powerball-type bit to stick in a drill with the Never Dull on the end of it, because MAN was it tiring! Anyway i've only been working on 1 rim, and will try and get some pics up if u guys wanna see...
