Help need a pump recommendation for 72lb injectors

I have a question. My Bosch GPF-217 was DOA last night when I went to crank the new motor. I am breaking it in on 40lb injectors, and then will be switching ovr to a Max-Effort thumbwheel.

I need a new pump,

the car has 72lb injectors, TA-63e, ported GN1s, THDP , ATR S/S headers, etc.... So, I am looking for a pump recommendation. Dual 340s. A 307 with a Bosch puller pump. Or whatever.

What would you folks recommend, and what are folks with this level of mods running. I knew I was going to have to replace the pump I expected to be able to break the motor in and then upgrade the pump. But that is not going to be the case.

Any help would be appreciated.

Go with a double in-tank pump. ATR or RA sells them, if you go with RA's unit make sure you get a adjustable hobs switch - more ability to tune.

My combo is pretty similar to yours. Too feel comfortable I'm opting for a double pumper set up. Most of the guys around here running in the high 120's low 130's are running 340's. I'm limiting my car to mid-low elevens so I think the double pumper set up is more than adequate, in fact its prob safe into the 9's.

I called Red. His kit is about $490. I called ATR ( I am assuming Applied Technologies - the header folks). The lady on the phone didn't know and was going to have someone call me back. Is this the right ATR?

Anyhow, I was also looking at the Aeromotive pumps, but I think Red's pump sounds pretty good at this point.

Holley/Walbro have a new pump that goes one better than the 340 & will supposedly support 650~700 hp in forced induction applications. Not sure what the part # is, but may be worth looking into.

OK, here's some info from the holley website:

The Holley line of high output in-tank electric fuel pumps is available in flow ratings of 190 and 255 liters of fuel per hour. A 155 liter per hour Mustang pump is available along with 255 liter-per-hour-rated pumps for "forced induction" applications. These particular pumps flow significantly more fuel at higher pressure. For example, at 80 PSI the standard 255 lph pump will flow around 132 liters (35 gallons) per hour. At that same 80 PSI the equivalent forced induction fuel pump will flow over 210 liters (50 gallons) per hour.

Part # for their "forced induction" 255lph pump is: 12-914

Are Red's XP pumps just walbro pumps or are they something else?

The GN part # is 12-914 according to Holley's site. That pump is $185. Here is a chart.

I have called ATR 3 times today, and no one there has any technical info on their kit, nor can they give me any information of any sort on the kit. I have to wait for one person to call me back, and I have been waiting on them for 3 hrs to call me back. I have had good luck with them in the past on headers and the like, but this has been a bit on the annoying side....

Have only installed 7 or 8 double pumpers and my opinion is the reverse!

Much prefer Red's set up for performance and installation. Would make my own before I would use ATR's again..

i believe the walbro 340 is 255 lph.

i feel the way to go is the new bosch external. that think kicks a$$!

i dont like double pumpers because if for any reason that second pump doesnt come on,.......kaboom.
And i definately wouldnt pay 500 dollars for it either.

Hey guys. There is a company called Apex that sells a single intank pump that puts out 400 liters/hour. Mike Ferrara (used to write for Turbo mag, now owns Drag Sport) made 650hp to the wheels in his Nissan Skyline with this pump as a single.
I am going to be getting one of these pumps and installing it in the GN. If I remember correctly, it is about $350.
If anyone is interested, I can get some prices. ERIC.

you better find out what the pressure limitations are....most pumps will not like the kinds of pressures we run......

I was able to et someone on thephone at ATR finally and they were able to answer my questions. Since I already had ATR headers, and one of their Roller cam setups, I decided to go with their kit.

I think Red makes fine products, and I would have no problem running one of his setups either. He was very friendly and he had product in stock, ready to ship. Both kits are within $9 of one another. So, it simply a matter of which vendor you choose.

I think either one would be a winner.
