My dad it looking to upgrade from a TA-6676 P/trim journal bearing .63 a.r. housing ported wasegate hole. What would be the best turbo for him to go with?

I would not mind your dad's turbo!

Since he's looking for more than we can assume he is running nearly 135 mph trap speeds. Posting the rest of the combo would help. Especially the torque converter.

First of all I would like to say that he was very very wrong about the turbo size the right size of the turbo is a te45. 2nd of all I should have wanted and looked for myself before I post the question. So with that being said what would be a good updated for him.

His mods are 109 block girdle, 1-3 billet main caps, stock rods, je piston, GN1 head ported with matching intake, 62mm TB, 55lbs inj, ls1 MAF, FMIC, 218/218 flat tap cam, scan Master, 1.5 roller rockers, red double pumper and a TE45 with a 63 housing

All those nice goodies.... and stock rods?

You got (except turbo and rods) 9 sec capable parts..... with a high 10 sec turbo and rods.

As previously stated.... what are his goals?

What converter is he running or planning to run?

He want to run low 10 and the converter is a 2800 L/U

IMHO... you can go low 10's on the stock rods.... but you are pushing them a little. Also.... 55lb injectors will need to be looked at. The 2800 stall is too low for the current turbo..... so IMHO...... it will be way to small for an even larger turbo.

6765 turbo..... 3500 PTC converter..... 80# high-z injectors....TTSD wideband chip....with wideband......and maybe an alky kit..... and a powerlogger would be nice.

This would be on my wish list for a 10.0 combo.

ok cool, looking at what I have in my sig would that get into the mid to low 10. I have a 3200 l/u what more do you think I would need.

IMHO... the converter stall is too low for a 70. ET's (and street drivability) will suffer and it will be a pig until it gets up on boost. A true 3200 converter would be better suited for a 60-62 mm turbo.

To go low 10's with your combo.... it will have to leave pretty good..... say sub 1.6 60' times....and that will take a carfully matched turbo and converter....and sticky tires of course.

ok I also have a set of 3.73 gear in the car too, So what would be the best converter for the steet and strip?

I would contact Dusty Bradford on here for a PTC converter. You will definately want your turbo picked out for sure.... before you call Dusty.

IMHO... I'd stick with the 3.42 gears.....

To run mid to low 10's I'd definately swap to a non lock converter. One of my 9.5's with a 3200 stall will spool even the 70mm.

So with what I said and wanting to be able to drive my car any where the 3200 n/l would be the best for the street and strip. What about my dad cause he wants to update his turbo from the te45 to something better and he has a 2800 l/u

Once you get to that power level, the non lock is still the best way to go. The car needs a good external trans cooler on it regardless of lock-up or non lock.
