I am in the market for a new snail and need some help picking. I have a 2800/3000 stall and I'm buying 60# injectors and supporting mods. I was a turbo that is a proven 10 second turbo and spools nice with the convertor that I have.
The car will be 90% street and 10 strip.

Thanks for all the help.

What converter do you have?

Dual Ball Bearing 6776, will work fine with a 10" 2800 stall.

6765 should put you in the 10's at 25psi if you have the rest of the combo to do it. You will need an intercooler, suspension work, cam and more injector to do it easily and reliably.

I'm assuming the 6765 will be a little smaller than the 6776 so the spool will be quicker. Is this a good assumption or the whole ass out of you and me thing? Also, if my assumption is right, how much spool difference would I see, notiable?

Thanks for all the replies gents.

Its rated at a higher hp and replaces the 6776. It should spool faster depending on whether the converter is adequate. The 6265 may even be rated at a higher hp than the 6776. None of this matters unless you are running the engine hard. Running 22-23psi it would be hard to tell a difference between them power wise.

Oh, ok. I'm wanting something to run at 25#s and spool well with the 3000 convertor that I have. I'd like to have the turbo that has seen 10's or bottom 11's with multiple cars, not 1 car on the edge.

6765 BB is the latest tech and will get you there. Your converter may be too loose when you turn it up. Hard to tell till you do. There are a couple CPT66 BB turbos for sale in the for sale section that will get it done easily.

What would be a good upgrade from a TA49? Running 12" 2800 stall, trans brake, 60lb injectors, big front mount and Razor Alky kit. Motor itself is totally stock, less than 30k on it. Bison, will go with whatever you recommend. Was hanging around with the guys this summer at the Berlin Tpke but don't think we ever talked.

Not planning on setting the world on fire just want to play around with a new project and like the idea of the ball bearing watercooled turbos. Was thinking of the 6162. Is going with the 4" inlet / 2.5" outlet the best way to go? Obviously I can come up with any kind of intake for it.:D

The GT3255 would be the closest thing. Never seen it 4"2.5" out. The 6162 BB is probably the best choice. I dont think the 4" is the best way to go in most cases since it requires a different air inlet and an IAC relocator. If you wanted to run it to the limit then id go 4" in. If you are running anything less than a 3.5 in MAF id think the added cost of the bigger compressor cover is a waste. I cant remember what MAF you have even though ive seen underhood of your car several times. We talked but not about turbos, only that douche with the Z06 at Blockbuster.

Quit jacking my thread. For forgiveness, send a fmic to jerrad sh......:D

So with the 4 inch I'd have to get the iac relocator.
Too many decisions

So where is the point where a Pat's converter won't hold locked? Low 11s? Just curious. I know lots of cars in the mid 10s and faster are using the PTC non lockups but I'm just trying to figure out the crossover point.

Hopefully around june/july you'll get a call from me.

Just got a GT 62 65 dbl BB turbo. I've got a 9" 3000 stall non LU. On my combo, it drives like a bone stock GN around town. Hope to have it on the dyno in the next week or so. Hope to see 500-550 RWHP on 91 oct and Razors alky. I'll post results.
