Found a hole in line going to actuator for turbo (overlooked this one could not see it) the other line goes to the intercooler after turbo. They are both connected to a Y fitting and then go to the left side of sensor on top of the valve cover. There is also a nipple sticking out on the right side of sensor that looks like a hose is suppose to go on it. Is this suppose to be a bleed off? Trying to find more info an turbo and wastegate.

Took car for a ride and still running to much boost. Does this wastegate actuator work off vacuum or pressure? (sry little knowledge of turbo, you can tell right this is my first car that had one)

So let me know what you think ? thks Sno-

Looking at Vortex right now. Thanks

That nipple should just have a wee tiny foam filter thingy on it. They hate to stay there.

Found out some more info on wastegate solenoid (which I was calling sensor on valve cover). I think that when the hole I found in the hose seemed to have been burnt so I'm thinking it plugged up the hole in the Y on the restricted side. If it is that would cause my High boost. So I'll check it out.

As to the foamy little filter was thats been gone since I had the car. Thanks hjhoward.

I know were getting close to laying some rubber.Unless I did some major damage trying to get there. I haven't blown a head gasket yet,lol Sno-

here they are.

Thanks for the pics, I wish my engine bay looked like that. as for the pic of the solenoidfor the actuator you have 2 hoses on it I have 1 thats on the left and that goes to the Y fitting, Is mine correct? Thks Sno-

Do you Guys ever go on chat ?

Well she's running better, still got some detonation happening when I hammer her down.Rechecked my crank sensor and cam sensor (good) the boost guage still goes to the red on the Led stk gauge.
The wastegate is openning because I can hear her spoolin down.Is there a way to turn the boost down. Not sure what else it could be.
So far she's running a lot better,I also used a can of Injection cleaner through the shrader valve on the rail. I never took injectors apart before so I'll study up on that.
As for my electrical problem thats another post. Sno-

I've got a pic at home of a heavy duty wastegate actuator, the wastegate is located on the lower front of turbo this is what controls the wastegate look closely at the rod make sure it is connected to the actuator and has a slip connector, if not connected to this it will not control the boost also look at the rod is it threaded and have a nut if so it is a "heavy duty" model it is there for adjusting boost up or down and adjust can't remeber which way is up or down but just go half turn in one dir. if not right go the other way, stock does not have any threading. Now from what your saying boost is still high led boost is most likely not totally accurate or like mine pegged all the time (which is why i have an aftermarket auto meter boost gauge in mine, most people do), i still believe you have to much boost so i would either say the waste gate is bad or the solenoid, easier to check wastegate, remove and see if there is oil in the pressure housing also shaft play on the rod if its loose as a goose probably bad the people i mentioned before can supply you with a new one. Let me know.

Have you ever tried driving the car with the waste-gate actuator unhooked? It is something I have done in the past just to make sure that everything else was ok. Just don't get caught driving around like that, it has the potential for a very embarrasing moment. If you have an adj actuator, I believe that if you turn it clockwise, tighten, it increases boost. Should have a jam nut on it also. I would keep several of the little clips in the ash tray or use a sturdy alligator clip if you will be messing with it much.

What do you mean by embarrasing,is it a lot louder? Or you mean getting beat by a Cavalier or Mom's minivan LOL.Plus you haven't seen the state my cars in. LOL

I do not have an adjustable rod.

I may dissconnect and try it.

onefastcar, what do you recommend for injectors? Regulator? I will eventually add a big air kit (what do you reccomend?)

I want to be able to add new chip, turbo, headers, exhaust, but I want to be able to run the new injectors on what I got now and not have to upgrade later.
I guess if I got an adjustable regulator I could adjust to what I need for stock or high performance. Am I correct in saying that?

I have one more question, the cataylatic converter (I think thats the way you spell it),where I am they don't check emmissions,I heard it runs a lot better without it,Is this true?

Well thanks again guys, I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you guys spent, I wouldn't be where I'm at without you. Sno-

With the rod unhooked the little flapper in the down pipe stays open not allowing you to build any boost. The car will drive like a plain ol six cylinder. As far as the cat goes, if you do nothing else to the exhaust, get rid of that and get a test pipe. It sounds great when you take the cap off. Plenty of vendors have them.

Taking the cat off is worth 1-2 tenths from what I hear. Some people have gained alot more though. The best gains would come from a 3" downpipe to a test pipe (a section of pipe that replaces the cat), and from there, it can either go right out of the dump (some test pipes have an extra section of pipe sticking out the side so the exhaust dumps right out instead of going to the catback (mufflers and tailpipes)....or you can go with a test pipe that has no dump and from there go to a good catback. Hooker makes a good, cheap system. From the test pipe to the tailpipes, and its less than 300 for all of this. Great deal. This is what I'll probably get, cause my whole system is rusted up with pinholes everywhere and is falling apart.
