I am considering having appraisals done on both my WE4 and my Lightning, and was wondering if anybody could tell me what they typically cost and if they hold any water with insurance companies.
My WE4 has collector insurance and I have declared a replacement value on the car (insurance is with Grundy), but I would like some more ammunition just in case it ever gets stolen, burned up, etc.
My Lightning is with my regular auto insurance. Even though they can tell it's a Lightning from the VIN, I have a feeling I will get screwed somewhere down the line if something happens to it because my insurance is pretty cheap on the truck. Plus, I have some bolt-ons as well. Will an appraisal help me with the regular insurance or do they totally ignore those when determining replacement value, etc.
Also, how much do these appraisals typically cost? Any companies that come recommended by this board?
