Lots of sputtering in idle-RPM's are up and down about 500 steadily
Smells Rich-plugs were black when I took out the
#1 spark plug to set the cam sensor.

After getting tired of it, and revving it up to see if I could get whatever it was, out of there, rpms went to 950-975 with lighter sputtering in idle.

FP was at 36 in idle. When the pump primes, it seems like there is not pressure, atleast that is what my gauge says. And it does take a few cranks to get it to start.

Has the factory chip in the ecm.

Ive gotten an opinion from one other guy, but would like to have more just in case.

What do you guys think? PLEASE bare with me.

Oh yeah, and what is the stock boost level on an 87, because I am not getting above 8 pounds in first, then it goes down to about 5 when it shifts into second. Headers are welded up with header gaskets.

Stock boost is around 12-14psi. Your o2 looks low. Did you upgrade the fuel pump, hot-wire, change filter lately? How do your vac lines look? You may want to upgrade that stock chip, get a TT chip. What is code 34? Is it a MAF code? You could try cleaning your MAF. Sounds like your fuel pump might be shot, if you have to cycle it to build psi.

Yeah, i upgraded to the walbro fuel pump, and it has a hotwire kit on it. I have not changed the filter. Exactly where is the best place to hook up a vacuum gauge so I can get a guaranteed good reading? Also, it is a code 23, not 34. I beleive it possibly miight be maf, but i tapped on it, and it didnt make the engine stumble. According to what people have said, thats the way to test them. Also, the fuel pump is building pressure, just for some reason the pressure isnt staying after its primed, MOST of the time. SOMETIMES it will go to around 30, and then drop off pretty rapidly to about 20, then go down slowly.

you cauld have a sticky injector, or failing one-way check valve in the pump. You can hood a vac, boost guage to almost any vacuum line. I would "T" into the stock MAP sensor. I would clean the MAF, is it stock? If so you have 20 years of dust build up on it. Hows the o2 sensor look, could be "lazy" and reading lean so your ecu would add fuel.
