I'm really getting frustrated with my up and down pipes. I got an uppipe from here for free to replace my broken one. Thank you again for it. Unfortunatly, it too was broken at the flex joint. So i took it to my buddy and he can get a new flex joint and reweld it. I guess maybe that would solve the issue. I really would like to get a nice upgraded up,down, and headers and replace it all at once. I am sooooo tired of searching around for these aprts and beginning to feel like the Intercooled's evil step brother b/c the parts just don't seem to be available like the 86/87 stuff. I'm on the waiting list for the downpipe setup from gbody if someone were to back out. Poston does not have any more headers available and I'm still waiting on my last order from them and getting a lil worried. As for the up pipe I have yet to see an aftermarket one available. Any one have any suggestions. I sure would appreciate it.

Jay's Grand National, T-Type, GNX Performance Parts and Repair has this up pipe listed.
another option is your local exhaust shop- i can't see why a good exhaust guy couldn't make you some new pipes. i was once quoted $75 for a 2.5" up pipe.

Jays GN is a good source for the uppipe. It is a good idea to replace it all at once. The passenger side is tight and not a job you want to do twice.

thanks for the link. yeah, my local shop guy is working with the old up i got but i just think the original stuff looks ugly. I do like the looks of that up pipe. As far as the down pipe, he could make a new one of those too. But, still left with the inferior elbow and stuff. I'm probably not having enough faith in the guy cuz he really does good work. I like the already tried and true tested stuff rather than the trial and error fabrication.

The uppipe can be found at Jaysgn.com. The downpipe is either wait on Gbodyparts or have one custom made. Custom downpipe 2 1/2 inch cost me $850. The only header needing replacement is the passenger side and ii is a Postons. Take the exhaust 2 1/2 all the way out with the Hooker system and you will be good to go. Brad

Thanks alot yall for the links and info. Looks like the waek link here is Poston and who knows with them these days. None in stock with them, looking at 6 months so they say. Anyway, I'll start trying to gather up the parts and stuff.

weld up the stock up pipe if its broke. if your wanting better than stock performance from your up pipe, i'd recomend a local shop that does good work welding and has mandrel bending capabilities. The pipe i got from jaysgn didn't fit worth crap. i tried every which way to get it to fit, including reclocking turbo. after i contacted jaysgn their response was "its your poston headers, go have it custom welded". funny how i had 3 stockers that all fit perfectly  . i paid out of my pocket to ship it back to them and back to me again so they could send it to the manufacture, said they fixed it, but it was never touched.

Hot air Down pipes are now getting the pucks & swing arms welded in. Swigg is in line if some one backs out or if we can get a few more guys who need one.

Is it possible to get a stub vs the whole downpipe?

I just need an elbow and like 6 inches of pipe, the rest i need to custom fab.

I have a 3" dp that is set up for an external wategate. I can send pics if you're interested.

Which turbo are you planning on using Aj? Is it the modded one? If it is you'll have to make it from scratch like me. I'm planning on external gate instead of internal.

jays junk up pipe

I bought the jays up pipe as well. NOT Even close fit. Called Jay, said it was the Postons header. I ended up cutting up the pipe & re welding the NEW pipe i just paid 199.00 for
Jay seemed like a honest guy, but basically tole me "not my problem"
Bout it for me & Jay

This is a strange quote here. I have a Jays GN uppipe and Postons headers. Mine fit fine. Do the math something is amiss in this post. My 2 cents. Brad

same situation with me
nothings amiss brad other than jaysgn.com sold at least 2 of these that we know of now that don't fit worth a crap and he's basically told the customer "your screwed!!!"

Aaron- I am surprised at this with JayGN. This sounds like my disaster with the Postons Uppipe not fitting the Postons passenger exhaust header. Go figure. Take it easy. Brad

I got two turbos set up and I will run a comparison between the 84/85 and 86/87. Both converted with the seal, so the HA / IC car downpipe flange will work. So I just need the wastegate flange and about 6 inches of tubing.... the rest I can make. Im getting short on time with my job kicking in full swing for the summer, so if I can save some time by not making the flange part - it would help!

But remember you're using two turbos to make one that'll not only flow better but spool better as well. The maps don't always tell the whole story.
