first would be to find a kit. unless you plan on bulding one yourself.

You would be sooooooo much better off with an alchy kit.......more bang for the buck.

I see very little difference between a good front mount intercooler and a alky kit on a hot air car. If anything the intercooler is a one time purchase and every spring you just clean it out. An alky kit has electrical and mechanic parts that can go bad. You have to keep the alky tank full too, thats money every week or month depending on how heavy your foot is. I mean really why do people say that alky is a better bang for your buck when it comes to a hot air car? I know I have argued this on here before, but maybe since the last time alky has come further then I know of? -Nick

as cheap is alky is it would take me about 5-6 years of adding alky to the car to pay for a intercooler kit that is worth anything for these cars. I also go threw alot of alky.

Isnt the spearco kit just an intercooler and piping? It doesnt do anything to the throttle body and intake manifold does it?

I sold my complete spearco kit for $500. I bought a incomplete kit for $350 a year after that. I think for $500 you would be pretty impressed what the spearco kit can do for your car. High 13's should be pretty easy with the right boost levels and basic supporting mods.

Can I put a intercooler on my 85 Riviera hot air? Or would it be better to put alky on it? How much would these things cost me?

85 Riv T. I suspect that with a front wheel drive you would be better off with a Razor Alky Kit. Costs around $600 but I would call Julio at Alky Control first.

Both Brent and Nick are correct w.r.t the advantages of an intercooler versus alky injection. I have learned after two blown alky pumps that denatured alky trashes the pump seals. Methanol does not do this. Methanol purchased in 55 gallon drums is around $3.00 gallon. Choose your poison. Good luck- Brad

Anyone know if there are any pictures out there with a Riv with an intercooler? The ultimate sleeper.

why not try half a tank of E85 first, and then you can decide if you want an intercooler. on my 84, half a tank of E85 mixed with half a tank of 87 octane feels like a 50hp boost compared to a tank of straight 93 octane.

thanks for the info people. i am new to this turbo thing. I always ran just strieght engine and now i am looking to eat some STIs and EVOs up at the track here in San Diego. Any parts tips or simple up-grade tips would be awesome also were to get them. Oh and I will be giving that alky guy a call this week. thanks all.

oh when mixing the E85 and 87 OCT does this require anything aftermarket or can i run stock everything?

You can run the car stock with E85. The downside to e85 in the long run is that it is very corrisive and will damage your fuel tank and fuel lines. Brad
