Ok as of right now I have a 150 watt amp and a Sony Xplode Radio for my car, Keep in mind i know nothing about audio components, now onto why i'm here, What speakers and size woofers would be a good match with what i have. I have a 1984 Buick N/A Regal i believe the rear speakers are 4"X10" and front dash speakers are 3" or 4" (i think) now i heard that no matter what brand or quality speakers i buy for the dash they will still sound like crap because they are small, if there is some kind of inexpensive conversion PLEASE let me know.

Thank you
Patrick

P.S.- I'm can't buying a bigger amp or better radio (they were free) unless someone has a good amp very cheap to sell.;)

P.P.S.- Should i use an adapter to make the 4X10's 6X9's? or are the 4X10's better?

What is the RMS rating for the amp & how many channels? I'm going to guess that the stereo is 4x50 watts which makes it 22 watts rms per channel.

6x9"s in the rear shelf would be a definate improvement over 4x10"s, just need an adapter which is available at any car stereo shop. Just be careful & don't go for speakers with huge magnets on the back as you'll run into problems with them hitting the torsion bars for the deck lid. The dash speakers are 3.5" & are better than nothing but that's definately not the best place to put speakers up front. If your car doesn't have the Concert II Sound option you'd have to cut a hole in the door panel but this is actually pretty easy & you can run a 6.5" as long as you don't go with too deep of a speaker. Or you can go with some kick panel pods & run a set of 5.25" components in them which is actually the best "budget" way to get a good front stage going.

As for a sub, 150 watts (assuming that's the rms rating per channel & you have a 2 channel amp) isn't that much power to be pushing the lows esp since we pretty much have to mount them in the trunk with all that seat & bracing in-between. Many amps can be bridged so that you are combining both channels "power" into a single channel which should pump the wattage up to 300 or so... this mode is also more efficeint so you may end up with more like 320 watts. This would push a single 10" subwoofer fairly nicely, esp if you are looking for a nice crisp/clean sound over a thumpity-bump rap blaster. ;)

Get back with us with the amp & headunit info and some info about the style of music you like to listen to would also be helpful.

I guess Bose and some of the other high end speakers sound like crap too. Get a good set of 3 1/2's with the correct low bass filter and you will be surprised at how well they can sound. Do not base judgments on the tired 15 year old paper speakers that are currently in your car. You can supplement the loss of low freqs by adding 5 1/4's or even 6 1/2's in the factory location. Your car can look 100% stock and still sound great.

Well, for the fronts and mids, get a good component system. Meaning 5.25 speakers with no tweeter on it and a soft dome tweeter. Hard dome will have people hearing your highs a mile away, which isnt good. 6x9's are the way to go. As for you amp, i ran 2 kenwood tornadoes just fine with that same amp. Build yourself a good box too. Make sure you dont clip your amp by pushing too much bass boost on the amp and the deck. When you clip you double the power of the amp and it can have bad consequences. I am running and all alpine system, with a 12" type r on an alpine mono amp.

Ok the Amp is 150 watt 2 channel on the front is for speaker setup left and right underneath it says bridged, B+12V, GND, Remote <-- please explain these and there is a fuse slot with no fuse in it what size fuse should gho in there? On the back is slot that says HIGH INPUT and right and Left slot that say LOW INPUT, a button that says BRIDGED STEREO AND MONO, then 3 knobs for LEVEL, BASS, and TREBLE

OH yeah forgot about the music i listen to metallica, Godsmack..... The heavy stuff and i also listen to Hardcore Techno and Trance just as much.

P.S.- You like Techno? watch this, This guy has a website and you ask questions to this character on his website and he answers it with a funny flash cartoon using the character. In this one he asks if he likes techno and his reply is VERY funny. I highly recommend you watch all the mails they are all funny!
