well we got my tranny out and back to andy ( 11th time out of the car ), andy took it apart and told me my pump exploded. cool, he's fixing it and i'm paying for parts from what i understood when i talked to him. now for the converter that i had cleaned that only has about 8 miles on it. i took that by the tranny shop this morning down the street from my house that builds racing trannies and converters for full race cars. he took one look at the input/snout or whatever on the converter that he just built for me and said that the input/snout was ate up and it was no good call him back at 12 and he'll let me know something. he even asked me," did your pump explode? " well since i have another converter at home that came out of my car i go take a look at it before i go to work, and sure enough same damage on the input/snout of the converter. this one is worse than the new one i got.

when does it end? :(

i'm sick of spending money on this transmission. i guess you live and you learn. i'm telling you people, i'll be an expert before it's said and done.

just thought i'd fill you guys in. i think i'm going out to the chesapeake bay to do some fishing this afternoon. i think the stripers might be biting today.

Sorry to hear about yet another bump in the road, just hang in there. It'll get resolved but at least you now know what caused it.

I'd sugget you skip the stripers and go straight for the strippers instead! Hell, I don't even fish, but should you add an extra "p" in there, I'm all over it! :)

Hey Godfrey,
Have a KNOWN GOOD remaned D5 for you if you need. With my combo it stalled 2400-2500 on street tires @3-4#'s. I upgraded to a 9X11 (3000 stall) about 2 weeks ago. The D5 has 2K miles and I assure you they are all street driven with an occassional kick in the asz from a roll. Its a convertor I bought from Mark Riley (NEW) rated @ 3000 stall but its probably closer to a 2700 stall with drag radials. If your looking for one quick let me know as you can try out before you buy.. Good luck..

thanks mike, i really, really appreciate the offer. the guy at jim's transmission already has my converter plus i'm not coming down to north carolina anytime soon. what are you looking to get for it if you don't mind me asking.

bobby if i hadn't spent all the money in this tranny, converter and renting the shop i'd be thinking of strippers and beer but i'll stick to fishing. that seems to always go well for me, i need something to help me redeem myself.

There was an instance a number of years back where we had a customer kill his pump 2 or 3 times in a short period of time on a T-Type. Frustrated, he brought the car to us (we are a production reman. facility & don't normally perform R&R) to see if we could solve the problem.

As soon as we pulled the transmission out, the problem stared us right in the face. His rebuilt engine did not have alignment dowel pins for the transmission!

Make sure yours are present and also make sure that the dowel reciever holes in your case aren't worn/egg-shaped. Also verify that your crankshaft pilot hole is properly sized (1.705) as that is what keeps everything aligned.

Peterkin, you and me are in the same boat. Mine did exactly the same thing. Pump blew up and knawed the hub on the convertor.
Just gave Bruce a bunch of my $ for some kick a$$ billet parts and a super pump so it won't happen again. He's fixin' my convertor too ('twas one of his). Make sure your guy doesn't just r & r the pump. Have him take it completely apart to clean out the nasty goodies that isn't supposed to be in there from the pump. Mine was worse than I expected it to be (dirty). Glad I was curious enough to find out. Waitin on UPS for delivery-chuck
