My goal is a high 11 or low 12 on a budget. Alky is in the works, check my sig please and any advice is appreciated. It will be a street car, but I need it to walk the walk. I'm getting lured by the bling of a new intercooler, 4 inch up/maf pipes, hood mounted gages, new throttle bodies, etc. Down and dirty, what will bring home the bacon? Thanks in advance.

You already have everything. Get the alchy working and crank up the boost on the stock turbo by plugging off the wastegate and run 11's.

You're lured by a bunch of crap that won't make you faster. Need to suppress all that stuff.

Get the car mechanically sound FIRST. That means scan tools, fuel system, valve springs, timing set, plugs, wires, injectors, chip, etc....

THEN add the alky.

and that's it. you've met your goal

Thanks for the reply. As you can see I'm a newb, how do I plug up the wastegate? I have an RJC boost controller along with an HD actuator. Thanks again.

X 2 and so on!

It sounds a lot simpler than I expected. Back under the hood I go making it sound. I do not want "new head gaskets" in my sig. Thanks guys.

i cant find your sig to see your combo but u can easily run those et's with the stock tb because i've done it! nor do i have alky, although i want it lol. My engine is bone stock besides comp 980 valve springs

You easily have the combo to go into the 11's with a good tire...spinnin' ain't winnin'

Weaklink I see is the trans won't last long making that type of power...I say 2 years tops...

Why do you want to plug up the wastegate? The RJC controller goes from the compressor side of the turbo to the wastegate. You have an HD actuator so you can run 25+PSI with the right tune.

Read as much as you can on here, just hang out and learn. I think a better injector and a bigger tire would help. These cars react a little different and some get frustrated but all your answers are here and in the archives or future posts. Its kinda like the encyclopedia of Turbo Buicks:cool:

The exhaust pressure in the housing will open the wg puck minimizing boost so blocking it off will allow the turbo to pump as much air as possible. I had to put a VERY, VERY strong spring on mine to keep it 100% closed.

Sounds like you have a cracked header Kevins. If I hang a strong spring on my wastegate I'll have a lump of magma between my front tires.

Nope. It's common to need to use stiffer springs to keep the puck tight against the housing. The stock turbo can only push so much air with a free flowing system. Others have also done it this way to get the most out of the stock turbo..
