I am in the process of upgrading my entire car.. And I do mean the entire car. I am putting back some cash for a new turbo, but want to run the stocker until I have enough jack for a pt51. So, how much boost will the stock unit handle? And how long can I expect it to live? By the way, what are some of the lowest stock turbo et's out there?

I ran a 14.2 (yea...flyin! ) With 21psi on the stock turbo.....I think any more boost then that is just a waste of heat.....Turbos have no "how long will it last" I have heard of some turbos that lasted up to 200,000 miles..but meanwhile my stock rebuilt one lasted me 11,000 miles..so....ya know!

20-21psi max on the stock turbo. It will put out more than that but like what was already said, the car will slow down if you go higher. If your car is nearly stock I wouldn't worry about turbo life. When I had nearly everything I have now done to the car but a stock turbo, at 19psi I broke two turbos in one month. In the exact same trim but with a bigger turbo I outran a Viper GTS on the topend so I know I was pushing the stocker way too hard.

I know some people have gone deep 13s and possibly 12s with the stocker but at that level a bigger turbo really wakes up the top end.

The engine is out, and being overhauled. I am camming it feeding it alky, and going with a V2 kit, so the stocker is a temporary deal. Cool, do I read your sig correctly that you run 009's with a 64 turbo? I have 009's, and want to go with a pt51, preferably a 54. How are your 02's, and do you feel safe with so much air and so little fuel? I was scared off by comments from JL, and others that the 009's weren't enough for my performance goals...Low 11's and an occasional high 10.

I agree that low 11s/ high 10s is really pushing the 009s but my dad proved it can be done with the aid of alky injection. In fact I got my 009s free when he went with 83lbs injectors. I probably will upgrade to 50lbs when I have the money but I really haven't had a chance to push the new combo so I don't know if fuel is going to be a problem. Hopefully it will be a problem :) .

mine slowed down after 20# also ...best times were 13:0's and best mph was 104.9.

my compo is in hot-air tech post called (posting my combo)
