Hey Guys,

Me again. I just put a Ta49 on my car and was wondering what they are capable of? My chip is burnt for 20-22 pounds of boost. What can this baby do? Just curious.

Read my sig and let me know what this "clunker" should run in the 1/4. I know this combo has been put together a thousand times.

Thanks

Boost is a mysterious term. You can have more boost with less timing. More boost with more fuel. It is all about the proper tune with no knock.

The proper question would be how much horsepower can a stock bottom end handle and how much HP will your combo produce.

Ive ran high 20's on stock as assembled from GM head gaskets with timing advance in the mid 20's. Ive ran 33psi on a stock bottom end with 23 degrees timing advance. The one in my sig. It went 10.29@133.4mph at 28.5psi. lol:biggrin:

I run around in the wife's car with a stock 165k mile motor with a TA49 at 25psi and 23 degrees timing all the time, but it's always on 100 octane and methanol injection on top of that... needless to say it doesn't have a knock issue. The turbo could do more but the old worn out engine starts to run out of steam at ~110mph anyways so what's the point. It could use a set of valve springs but I'm too lazy to do it.

You combo reads just like my wife's car. TA49, 3"DP/3" exhaust, green stripes, SMC, extender chip and 85mm MAF. With goodyear Eagle GTII's turning a 2.0 60ft and 21psi the wife's old bucket runs 12.50's at ~109 with safe fat tune. Not too bad, could be better, never bothered to put tires on it either.

I've seen a 80k stock unopen engine, with a TE63e, 55 injs, old Mark Jackson IC, port stock elbow & dp and a 9" non lock AC, go low 6.90's on 30 psi for many years and still living.
