Can anyone tell me what could cause such a noise? kinda of a hissing shushing sound;). The sounds is more prevolent when i reverse. But i can slightly hear it while in the other gears. Its not that loud, but i know its there. The trans appears to be in good working order and shifts nice at med throttle. No WOT as i dont have enough inj yet to support the new combo.

When i bought the car the seller told me that it had been rebuilt. The front pump looks clean and has some type of green paint or dye on it. The converter is a 9 in Art Carr LU.

I remember hearing that 10 vane and up pumps will make such a noise, is this true? Is the green paint or dye what they look like normally? I have yet to check the pressures.

Probably just the pump.My trans in my Sunfire sounds like that too.
You can drive the car and hear the pressure build and drop as it goes through the gears.

add an extra quart of oil even if the stick says full and see what happens.if it is louder in reverse, manual 1 and 2 suspect a pump suction problem or low oil level, aeration.
