Don't get me wrong, I think your should get your bike repaired with everything absolutely neccesary. If the parts/labour can be done by the shop YOU approve of, for say $2000, but your buddy writes the estimate for $4000, who looses?

Not the idiot behind the wheel. The insurance company. Then I do the same thing and my friend and my brother ect..... what happens? Insurance company says sorry rates going up this year again.

As far as your claim for injuries, same thing. Soon insurance companies will only pay out if your dead. Too many bogus claims.

No matter what happens, this drunk will only have a rate increase, she won't be paying your costs herself. Your revenge will be with the insurance company. Just does'nt seem right.

That being said, I hope your still not sore. Now get those parts ordered so you can enjoy that bike this summer.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I know what your saying and I agree to a point. Its not like im gonna collect a lot im sure. Im sure I wont have trouble collecting a fair price on getting my bike fixed either. But insurance companies will rip off people if they get a chance and they tried one time with me when someone pulled out in front of me and totalled my truck I was driving one time. They offered me 800 bucks and were determined not to give me a penny more for my Diesel pickup. I just told the adjuster I would call him back and I hung to phone up and called an attorney. If they had offered a fair price on my truck I would not have gone that far. Heck I gave more than 800 for it and I always try to get a steal on things!!!

For the most part im just giving you a hard time but I think I deserve something for my trouble and im sure the bikes value will be somewhat lower now that its been involved in a crash. Not that I plan on selling it but im sure you can understand my point on that. Insurance companies make plenty of money off plenty of people who never file a claim and people who have bad records pay even more. Im what insurance companies call a "Preferred Driver" cause of my good record. Ok..Im gonna stop blabbing along.

Few insurance points.. if you are concerned with your bikes value you would need to check the history of "diminished value " claims for your state. Some states, not many , allow you to collect for that type of damage. The reason most states dont allow for it is that its near impossible to determine an amount that is correct in regards to the value being lower.

As far as shop estimates... I write at least a few bikes a week for the insurance company I work for ( 2 yesterday). All companies handle bike losses differently - some dont have appraisers that can write bikes and just take the shops word for it. Others will send out an appraiser and then it wont matter how much the estimates are for. Bike estimates are easy - they typically just involve replacing parts. Where shops /myself/customers run into problems is with marking up the already high Harley parts...the insurance company / at fault party only owe retail value of the part not some shops attempt to pad the estimate.

No doubt your bike should be put back to preaccident and I think you should be compensated for any injury / inconvience you experienced. I am not familiar with NC injury rules when it comes to what you can/can't collect for . But the damage to the bike is only worth so much and thats all the insurance companies will pay. The best part about bikes are that I find the "custom" Harley shops are much fairer than the actual dealers.

Lack of roads to handle all the gdamn growth has made riding a bike around the South dangerous as hell. We already have ghost jams all the time here in Birmingham. You know, where the traffic suddenly stops on the freeway for nothing. But I know, Im crazy, and backwards for not liking population growth.

Police report

Got a copy of the Police report yesterday and here are just a couple highlights....

Was a 22 year old female driving her moms car.

Police went to a residence to find the car...Talked to the girl who had been driving the car earlier...She did not recall backing up or hitting anything.

Here is an exact quote from the police report.....

"She was Extremely Intoxicated when I was speaking with her. It is unknown if alcohol was involved as a factor in causing the wreck"

BWEAVY....Do you have a daughter driving around in NC? Hmmmmm...She must help empty those "Shipping Boxes" for you huh? I think the last box of parts I got from you was shipped in a Miller Light Case right?....ha ha

That sucks. I'd pay a personal visit to Ms. Drunken Sorority Chick's house.

VERY glad to see you're not permanently injured.
