I just read a post about launching a GN and the author stated that he pulls up to the line and trips both lights and brings the boost to 15lbs.(on the foot brake) and holds it until the light turns green(he also stated that he does not leave until the boost is at 15lbs.). I think Don Wang once told me that more then a few seconds of boost on a foot brake will shorten the life of the torque convertor. Any thoughts or experiences ?
Thanks,
Jeff

i could almost feel the launch.it is very good for one to stage like this and with a good non lock up convertor this shouldnt hurt anything ,however a loku convertor at this rpm if not a good model may wind up in a coffin.

Thanks Chris for the reply. I have always increased the rpm's to 2000 during staging and then pedal to the metal when the first yellow light came on. I did this because of what Don told me. Since I have a non lockup convertor I will try a more agressive spool up as you suggested.
Thanks,
Jeff

Chris, my trans. was last rebuilt in 1992 by Art Carr. At that time the input shaft was changed and a 10 vein pump installed along with the usual rebuilding stuff. Don replaced the servo in 1997 with a aluminum part that he made up for me. I can't believe the trans. has held up over the years. About 3 years ago I added a deep pan and bottom feed filter.
