Anyone ever try that Richard Lassiter octane boost formula over on GNTTYPE.ORG. It calls for a mixture on Toulene, mineral spirits, and transmission fluid. I'm curious if I could also run this with my TT chip that's set for 92 octane and crank up some boost. Any thoughts or experiences? Is Richard Lassiter on this site-maybe he will chime in.

Many of the old timers have tried it back in the day before the use of Alky and E85 became common place. I recall using a couple gallons of Toluene or Xylene along with an ounce of Marvels Mystery oil to help bring up my octane. It worked but the cost of the solvents became too cost prohibitive to justify regular use. Inconsistent mixes, as already mentioned, is an issue as well. You probably won't find very many using it anymore but it did work.

I used to do it to run about 20 psi , it was expensive and a pita save for meth injection it's much safer and easier in my opinion.

Boostane is an option, Cal Hartline has a write up somewhere on here.

Mix in a little E85 about 30-40% and adjust your tune, But get ready to get hooked and do a Full E85 switch over.

I wouldn't risk a motor doing something like that. Is 100 octane unleaded available in your area?

Racers had to do it all the time, as well as I did when I was stationed in Hawaii. The local track (now gone) didn't have pumps for race fuel. If you wanted race fuel you had to buy a 5 gallon pail from the Speed shop and pay freight as well. So many guys just went to the local Sherwin Williams and got a 5 gallon can of Xylene.
It was funny because every Friday they would have a pallet of Xylene right by the bay door for all the people who would buy it so it was no racers secret. If you knew your car over time you would be able to figure what amount was in the tank from the gauge; then it was easy to figure out the mix I would pour in the xylene and then top off with what ever amount of 91 octane pump fuel.

It's also a great way to clean the injectors if they're a little dirty and get a few MPGs back......

....it's also a great way to clog a fuel filter if you have a bunch of shellac in the gas tank :D

Up to about 5 years ago their was race fuel from the pump all over the place on long island, now theirs only a few left nearest bout 45miles away or jump into jersey but with the tolls it doesn't even out, and the local speed shop is about $70 for 5 gal drum....so mabe theirs something to this E85 thing:rolleyes:
