My buddy has a DOHC B20 honda motor (1986 from Japan) in his 1986 Accord. It has a ported head and aftermarket cams that came in a package from GUDE Performance. It also has MSD 6AL box and matching Blaster 2 coil.
The problems :
1. Ever since he bought the car it has been running extremely rich from idle to WOT and the exhaust smells like raw fuel.
2. Once the car warms up and stays around 210-220 the car starts to stumble and cut at just about any speed. Once this happens the tachometers (1 stock and 1 running straight out of the MSD box) usually start jumping erratically throughout the whole range of the tachometer. Today after running the car for @ 10 minute straight the problem occured, we pulled over, and noticed that the Blaster 2 coil was very hot to the touch. The coil is mounted on the fenderwell, parallel to the ground. (is this mounting OK?)
We have been trying to diagnose the problems for a year or so now, with no luck yet and are looking for any suggestions you guys might have. I know this is a turbo buick board but the Honda guys havent been much help yet so I told my buddy Id ask you guys.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Joe
