I appreciate the info on new stuff but I just don't want to give on on mine yet. Bull headed the wife says.

Any ideas besides buying a new one
Honestly, it doesn't look that bad considering its spent 32 years in that environment. Looks like oil stains so maybe lightly use some engine degreaser or some full strength Palmolive dish soap. Works wonders on grease stains on cloths so maybe here also. If you find that it works you may have to get in behind it to get it soaked good.

Been working on it for a while. Need a break from it. Thanks for the dish soap idea. Tried it. I think these results are the best it going to get. Thanks for the advice. I guess I'll just leave it.

How about masking off the logo and spraying it with some heat paint? You'd have to remove it but at this point I don't see much else to do.

Btw.kirban has the hood pad buttons 12 for $5. Stupid shipping is $15 though (n)

I just saw a video and the guy used Duplicolor vinyl and fabric dye spraypaint. So that is a possibility.

Don't know about hood buttons but I ordered some gaskets from Kirbans on line and the shipping was $15 which I thought was ridiculous but ordered anyway. I was refunded $12 without asking.

I bought hood buttons in the “Help” section at Autozone and seen them at Pep boys a few years back.

I used Pronto's advise and tried high heat paint. Now I'm happy till I buy a new one. Not perfect but it's definitely looks better. Before and after. Also pictures was taken at different time's of day so the after looks darker

Where you able to get the buttons off without them breaking?

Used a piece of cardboard as a paint barrier of the Buick lettering and the symbol . Did it by hand. Not hard at all.
