I have a manual drivers seat and recently bought a power seat. Is it a simple 12v.+ and 12v.- supply to the cable end?

The end I am speaking of has two heavy gauge wires (a black, and an orange w/black stripe) going to a clear connector.

Thanks,

The black wire grounds to a nut connection in the floor support under the seat.
The orange wire you have to fish up to the power block (white) above the fuse panel. You can use a pick to remove the wire and clip from the connector to make fishing the wire easier and then reinstall the plastic connector back onto the wire and clip and then just plug it into the power connector block. Takes time but not all that diffcult to do.

I switched from a manual seat to a power seat in my GN, and curiously, the part that involved the most work, ( if you want to do it exactly as if it came from the factory) is to install the orange power wire. You have to start from under the seat and up to the large white power block under the dash, just above the fuse block. The black wire bolts down to the floor of the car ( there should be a ground screw already there...)Then, the connector should snap in the white block. I even had to unbolt the parking brake mechanism to route the wire properly, under the small metal tabs that are already there and that hold several other wires, you'll see... Aside from that, when you're done with the orange wire installation, it's just a matter of replacing the carpet, the door sill moulding, and then, unbolting the manual track and bolting the power track in it's place. One detail that was important to me...if you really want a correct, "factory" looking installation with all the right trim pieces, you should have 8 black plastic trim mouldings ( 4 small ones to hide the legs that bolt to the floor, and 4 long ones that hide the tracks) to replace the ones from the manual track, as they are totally different, and do not interchange. On top of that, there is the grey moulding that houses the switches on the seat itself that you have to replace. If you want to see the final result, send me a message through e-mail, and I'll send you a few pics. That's it!

Thanks alot!
Very helpful.
I tested the hook up with a battery charger and it seems to work as expected.

Was kinda hoping the trim would just transfer - oh well. If you have the photos habdy, yeah, send'em to me. I will try to gather the parts, and if I have trouble I'll take up up on your offer.

Steve, one thing I noticed you have an '86 Gn...I wanted to let you know that the '86 and '87 tracks are different, but they do interchange. The easy way to indentify them is this: the '86's have a single motor mated to a big plastic transmission and have steel tracks, and the '87's have three separate motors with aluminium tracks. Let me know what type you have...I have a '86 track here, so if yours is an '87, I can offer to simply trade it...( if it is important to you...)
