I've got a Hooker cat back exhaust system on my 87 Regal T. The tailpipes are getting crusty looking and I want to replace them with stainless tailpipes. My y-pipe and mufflers are in great shape and I want to reuse them.

I understand Hooker has discontinued their system for the TR/GN. Will anybody else's tailpipes fit the Hooker system?

The hooker system is still available I just got one a couple of months ago.

Rick,

You're right. I found the Hooker system on their website. But they are aluminized pipes not SS. I think I want SS replacements. Kirban is selling Pypes systems which say they are identical to Hooker's system. I'll call Dennis and see if he can get just the tailpipes.

If "crusty" is what I think it is, try a brillo pad- SOS pad, Stainless steel scrub pad. May make a big difference.

So do you want new exhaust or just want good looking tips? Ebay/jegs sell's just the tips and you can either clamp or weld them on to the old exhaust.

Hi turbodave231, Being you still have the Hooker cat back exhaust system on your car, do have any drone noise with this system?

Yes, it drones a bit, but not as bad as the old ATR 3" single shot system I've had in the past on other cars. I'm thinking about RJC's 3" crossflow system. Nice 304 SS and he claims it doesn't drone. Still undecided

I am not sold on the Pypes (Hooker look alike) system either because of the 409 SS. I won't buy another Hooker aluminized system.....it will rust just like this POS system. I hate 409 SS. Welds like poop and doesn't stay nice for ever like 304.

I do agree, and for around $170.00 extra the RJC system is much better then the Hooker system

Had my car for almost 7 years with the Hooker kit on it already and its still in good shape.

X2 I've had mine since 06, still looks good an sounds great.

TRY-ME!!!

I wish my Hooker system was still in good shape......It is not rusted thru in any of the pipes, but they are getting thin. The mufflers look great and can probably be re-used with new pipes. I live in the rust belt which doesn't help with longevity of exhaust parts.

I have a set of tail pipes that are not rusted what so ever. I'm almost 100% they are from a hooker exhaust. Where you located?
