Am Installing new engine, after installing new headers, pulled the dn pipe out of box and discovered its not for a hot air, maybe for a custom set up (bought it used, with headers and cross over),I dont know, but I do know I need a 21/2 or better dn pipe for my hot air,, who sells them?? I find a lot of em for 86/87, but nothing for hot airs. I would sure hate to have to use my old stocker.. Any body have any answers----Jack

I think Lee Thompson might still have 1 or 2 3" DPs left for sell, but you will need an external 'gate.

Hot air dn pipes

Thanks for the leads guys, now I`ll get busy on getting one---I looked at ATR catalouge, didnt see any thing for hot air,,,I`ll call em tommorrow----again thanks,,,Jack

I have an order in with ATR right now for a 2.5 dp. I talked them last about two weeks ago, and they said it could be up to a month or so before they get the pipe in to make some more down pipes. So i don't know the status yet, but they are supposed to call me when it is ready. Fortunately, i am not in a hurry, hope you aren't either, cuz it could be a while before they get one made up for ya.

My ATR catalog is old (2000) but, a picture of the complete systems shows the headers and the down pipe. Look up the page with the 84-85 exhaust system.

Fullahotair--- dn pipe from ATR

How much is it from ATR ?? I have a couple of lines on used ones,so it would help me with the pricing on the used ones...do you know of any brands to stay away from,,, or good ones .....Thanks,,Jack

mine will be 150 there abouts. Let me know if you come across any used ATR downpipes. I have been looking for a used ATR, but had no luck. There are some hot air downpipes that work only in conjuction with that brand header. I believe the kenne bell headers are like this. You will need that whole system to make it all work, so be certain of the what is for sale. The ATR will bolt right in more or less, you may need a few curse words to get it in. Other than ATR, i think Lee Thompson and maybe Terry Houston make a 3" version - someone correct me if am wrong. And accordingly are more expensive. "Zero to Sixty" used make a handful of 3" dp, so every once in a while you see those pop up for sale. The downside of 3" is clearence. They make it difficult for spark removal and associated activities, however they also come as a two piece design, which will eliminate some of that trouble. There aren't really to many options out there, unfortunately. From what i understand from others here on the board, Lee Thompson, ATR, and Terry Houston all make excellent pieces - again someone chime in they feel differently. I think Keith Mease makes them as well. I would just watch out for some homemade pieces, some are well built and others aren't.

( i am not sure if Terry Houston makes or made one for the hotair.)

Far as I know Terry Houston doen't make a Hot Air down pipe. The one Mease makes is like a Houston pipe. It does away with the elbow and mounts directly to the exhaust housing with it's own puck built in.

irockwithdirt-----

The "dp" I have looks like its the bottom 1/2 of a two piece unit...has a set up for clamps at the exh covertor end, with a 3 hole flange at the other end, that would be at just over the valve cover,,has nothing else from there up to the turbo,,I`m assuming the guy who I got it from kept the missing piece for another project----Jack

to Mease performance---dn pipe

I see you have some dn pipe systems for sale ,,what I`m looking for would be the upper piece, the one that comes out of the turbo with the puck and the short pipe---I have the the lower piece, just need the upper. Do you have any, and how much---Jack

3 in dp

i have the same problem as someone had welded a 3 in dp to the exhaust on my car but the piece that bolts to turbo was missing. if i could get that piece i would put it back on but i have no idea who made it. thanks andy:confused:

The ATR can be a bitch to put in. If I were to do it again, I'd buy Mease and be done with it and just get the whole thing, less headaches that way.

3" dn pipe-upper

I agree with mike85gn,,I`d go with meese and his setup, its a real nice piece---Jack

HOT AIR D.P.

ATR says the pipes should be done soon. If you can wait and want to save some money we have them on sale in the ADVERTISERS SPECIAL SECTION / www.aggressiveauto.com or (586)771-9122
Thanks, Bruce Alred

P.S. FREE SHIPPING TOO!

The ATR pipe went into my 84 easy with the
header off and the AC compressor dropped
loose from the bracket. And I had to take all
this off to get the stock one out, anyway.
