Has anyone fabricated their own headers for the H/A?? If so, post up. Also post up ideas and ways to improve over the stock ones. Maybe someone could post some side-by-side pics of the stockers and Postons so those of us that are thinking of upgrading (or fabricating) can see the differences and others can give some input on ways to build some that are even better....GOT YOUR EARS ON BWEAVY????:D :D For some reason I've got the itch to change some things on my GN.....GO FIGURE!!

the way i understand it, the stock headers are good way past the power and speed levels 99% of us will ever see, and that they will actually slow down most mild cars.

Since I'm planning an interesting combo with a 4.1 I'll be using aftermarket but extreemly modified when I get to it. I'm hacking up a set of hookers I have laying around. Leaving driver side alone and fixing the funky cross over and pass side header to work better. Using a non stock turbo that I'm in the process of building right now.

I do have some experience here which may help. The drivers side exhaust header and crossover pipe does not have to be changed at all over stock. Just make sure there are no leaks. The exhaust side is a different matter.

If you want any improvement on the exhaust you really have to get the Poston exhaust passenger side header, eliminate the turbo elbow, bigger downpipe and exhaust and get rid of the CAT. I went 2 1/2 inch which is plenty for a stock turbo or a TA33C. You have to go the whole way or forget it. There will be no performance increase unless you replace everything. Take-care. Brad

The right side exhaust manifold is the most restrictive design to ever come from GM.

as stated above. drivers side is fine but i would still upgrade but the passengers has to go. if your going to do headers just replace them all along with the cross over and up-pipe

i doubt that- i think the Oldsmobile V8 manifolds that have the crossover into the passenger side manifold like our cars, then a single 2" pipe out from there would be worse.
the 78-93 Chevy small passenger car log style manifolds with the AIR tube jammed down into each port are truly craptastic, too.

theres a huge difference in both sides on a hot air car. ive got a set of postons headers for mine and the drivers side is a much smoother flow with a bit larger pipes and the drivers is a much bigger pipe that actually had to be ovalled a little bit to clear the block and also a much better flowing header. heres a side by side pic of the two.

hope this helps you out a bit good luck. Kyle:biggrin:

you can't post a pic from your computer- unless you have it set up as a server- you need to have it at an actual website in order to hotlink it here.

Missinformation here. I just posted a PIC from my camera about a free uppipe. See free hot air parts. Just keep the file size smaller and it works. I believe you may have to be a senior member. Brad

look at hte address of the pic he tried to post:

C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Owner\My Documents\Kyle\grand national\DSC00623.JPG

that is on his computer- to post something in an online forum, it needs to be on a server somewhere- whether it's here or at a place like webshots.

ya ive never tried putting a pic on here before guess i figured out how not to do it ;) but heres another shot at it
