I have an 87 GN I have just put GN1 Heads on. One of the situations I am having is that when in motion and I step on it gradually, its fine BUT if I was to just step on it the boost goes up to 15 pds and I instanly get 10 degrees of knock. The second problem I am having is that when my car has been running and gets hot enough and I turn the car off, it will not restart. All it does is crank. I changed the coil pack and the ignition module. If anyone has any suggestions for these problems, please let me know. THANKS:confused:

Hey guys, this car belongs to my buddy, it has all the basics w, 52 turbo, pte frt . mt interrcooler
. I was w/ him today and cant figure it out, if we ease into the throttle its fine, but brake torque
annd punch it and it starts popping and getting retard on the sm. we went from 35 psi of fuel
line off to 45 and no different. I did notice the iac counts at idle in park were 35, is that too high
were baffled. and he has msd 50's, also do the gn1 heads like ac 43 plugs because thats what is
in there.

How hot is it getting? Perhaps there are air pockets in the cylinder head coolant passages.

What fuel pump is in the car? How long? Some have stated that a fuel pump on it's way out may pump fine until it gets warmed up good, & then it starts acting up.

There's a fairly simple way to check it if you think it may be to blame.

If you suspect the pump...

...remove the schrader valve from the fuel rail under the hood & slip a rubber hose on it. Apply 12 volts to the black fuel pump test wire located behind the alternator & see how much fuel the pump puts out in 60 seconds. You should get around a gallon from what I've learned here. HTH

Wrong plugs for the GN-1 heads. They use a long reach plug like NGK TR-5.
