How are 3rd/4th gear switches used by the ECM?

Installed a THM400 and wondering if the loss of the 3rd/4th gear signal inputs is going to have any adverse effects from a performance standpoint. Thanks!

setting up torque converter lock schemes.
EGR stuff
Boost scaling

And in the newest chips (extenders, etc)
timing scaling
lo gear WOT fueling
